SPD March Release Day 1: Wanderlust & Polaroid Journal Card die set

Hi everyone and welcome to Day 1 of the SugarPea Designs March Release!

Over the next 5 days, the SPD DT will be sneak peeking this month's new stamps and dies, and today we are sneak peeking my new stamp set, Wanderlust, together with the first of 4 new dies I designed for this release - Polaroid Journal Card.

Supplies
SugarPea Designs: Polaroid Journal Card die set
Bazzill Cardstock: Coconut Swirl, Blackberry Swirl, Tangerine Blast, Grapefruit Bliss, Lime Crush
Stampin' Up Cardstock: Real Red, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise

For my first card today, I simply used the Polaroid Journal Card die set and cardstock!  All I did was attach six 7mm wide strips of coloured cardstock to the centre of a 105x148mm piece of Coconut Swirl cardstock to replicate the coloured stripes of a polaroid camera.  I then cut out the polaroid frame from Blackberry Swirl cardstock, attached the "smile" word die cut from Coconut Swirl card, and popped the frame onto the card front using foam pads.  Then is was just the case of constructing the camera.  I die cut 2 cameras - one from Coconut Swirl and the other from Blackberry Swirl - then carefully snipped the bottom part from the black camera along the embossed line and attached it to the bottom of the white camera. I then backed the top part of the camera with a scrap of black card and the bottom with a scrap of white card. I die cut the teeny tiny top part of the camera (the super skinny, tiny rectangular die) in black card and glued that on (thank goodness for my quickstik tool, lol!), die cut one of the buttons from red card and added that, then die cut the tiny striped embossed part from white card, coloured the stripes using a rainbow of fineliners, and then glued that piece to the camera.  The camera was added to the card using foam pads ... and it was finished! :)  I was going to add some glossy accents to the flash and lens of the camera, but I decided that I liked the 'matt look', so left it as it was.

Supplies
SugarPea Designs: Wanderlust stamp set
Memento Ink: Potter's Clay, Teal Zeal, Gray Flannel
Distress Ink: Rusty Hinge
Bazzill Cardstock: Blackberry Swirl, Coconut Swirl, Bahama
WOW! Embossing Powder: Bright White Super Fine (WL01SF)

My second card uses the new Wanderlust stamp set.  I decided to have a go at partially die-cutting a circle into the top layer of my card, which worked surprisingly well first time!  I used an 83mm circle nestabilities die and placed the top edge of it at 15mm from the top of a 105x148mm piece of Coconut Swirl cardstock, using some washi tape to tape it in place.  I then measured 70mm from the top and taped the panel to my Cuttlebug plate at that point (so the 70mm "top" of the card with most of the die was on the Cuttlebug plate, but the rest of the card was protruding over the edge of the plate and so it wouldn't be die-cut).  I ran it through my machine and then used a ruler and a craft knife to connect the partially cut circle.  I then heat embossed "Enjoy the ride" and the bracket stamp from Wanderlust in white onto a 105x14mm strip of Blackberry Swirl cardstock.  This was actually my 3rd attempt, lol!  In the end, the process that worked best for me was to cut the strip of card first, then stamp onto it, rather than stamping onto a scrap piece of card and cutting it to shape once I'd stamped and heat embossed!  I layered this onto a 105x17mm piece of Bahama cardstock and then fixed it to the front of the card with the top edge measuring 67mm from the top of the card front.  I stamped the car stamp in 3 different colour inks and added the 2 sentiments in black. I inked the top using Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge distress ink and my mini blending tool.  Then it was just the case of gluing the stamped and inked piece to the card base, and adding the top die-cut layer using foam pads.

The Polaroid Journal Card die set includes a 3x4" polaroid frame (so you can use it for pocket scrapbooking & Project Life, as well as cards!), an instant camera die (in the same style as the camera stamp from the new Wanderlust stamp set), a small polaroid frame that fits in the slot at the bottom of the camera die (so cute!), and a "smile" word die.  As explained above, the 2 tiny dies are additional pieces for the camera, allowing you to cut them out in a different coloured card and lay them on top the base die cut.

Wanderlust is a 4x6" stamp set which includes 19 travel themed stamps.  These would be perfect to use for Project Life / pocket scrapbooking, as well as for cards and other papercrafts.  I went down a slightly more vintage route with my illustrations for this set, and included a 1950's style scooter, an old-fashioned biplane and a 1970's instant camera.  I also included a compass, a geotag, and 2 different sized camera "flashes" as well as a few other stamps and some travel-themed sentiments:
