TAWS January Release Blog Hop!

Welome to The Alley Way Stamps January 2015 release BLOG HOP!

The TAWS DT have been sharing some fantastic creations made with the fabulous January release stamps over the last 3 days, and today we are celebrating their release with a GRAND BLOG HOP!

The full release is available to buy from The Alley Way Stamps RIGHT NOW!! Woo-hoo!

For my hop card, I used several stamps from adorable *NEW* Nessie mini stamp set to create a one layer scene card:

I started with a 105x148mm piece of Bazzill Coconut Swirl cardstock and added a straight edge mask at around 50mm from the bottom edge.  I then used Tim Holtz Distress ink pads in Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Broken China to create the lake.  I moved the mask so it covered the lake that I had just inked, and then used some black ink with a torn piece of paper as a mask to create the hills.  I created a misty sky using Dusty Concord.  The grass and reeds were stamped in Versafine Onyx Black (and the latter coloured in with a black pen).  I then stamped the cute Nessie onto my Copic colouring paper, coloured her in, fussy cut her out and then adhered her to the scene.  I then stamped the little wave stamp 3 times.  Finally I heat embossed the "Hello" stamp from the *NEW* Bubbly stamp set and the "You're not alone" sentiment stamp from the Nessie stamp set at the top of the card panel before adhering it to a card base.

This crazy-cute mini set is FREE when you spend $40.00 or more at The Alley Way Stamps store during the month of January 2015. How awesome is that?

TAWS January Sneak Peek #1: Cake Day

It's time for the first of 3 days of fabulous sneak peeks of The Alley Way Stamps January 2015 release. Today we are sneak peeking the *NEW* Cake Day stamp set, which will be available to purchase from The Alley Way Stamps store at 10pm (mountain time) on Wednesday 31st December.

If you hop on over to today's sneak peek post on the The Alley Way Stamps blog, you will be able to see the rest of the team's awesome Cake Day sneak peek cards, plus there is an opportunity to win this fantastic stamp set!  Be quick though, as the contest is running for today only and will close at 7pm moutain time.

Cake Day is a 4x6" clear stamp set packed full of wonderful 'cake day' themed stamps and sentiments.  I have used 3 of them on today's card - the cupcake, a candle and this awesome sentiment:

Supplies
TAWS Cake Day stamp set (available 31/12/14)
Bazzill cardstock: Pineapple Bliss, Raspberry Splash, Coconut Swirl
SU cardstock: Old Olive
Versafine ink: Onyx Black

I decided not to colour for this card, and so paper pieced everything using different coloured cardstock.  I really wanted the lighter pink cupcake frostings to have large white polka dots. Unfortunately I couldn't find any paper that worked (despite having an enormous paper stash, lol!), and as I didn't want to draw them with a white pen or add gems, I decided to stamp and cut out the frosting in both white and pink card, and then I used my hole punch to punch holes through the pink card.  Once I laid it on top of the white card, I had polka dot frosting! (I kind of like the randomness of the white spots!).

The layout of my card is based on the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch! #104 (yep, it's the second time I've used this sketch in as many days, lol!).  I also followed this week's colour combo at ColourQ #273, so I would like to enter this card into both these challenges.

Thanks for stopping by today!

ShowCASe your style SYSC#5: Theme

Hi everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas?

It's time for a new challenge at showCASe your challenge, and this fortnight we have a theme challenge for you.

You have until midnight EST on Wednesday 7th January to join in and link up your creation.  A randomly selected winner will receive a Whimsy Stamps $10 gift certificate (this will be increased to $15 if the winning entry uses Clearly Whimsy Stamps products) and the DT will also choose their Style Queen and Style Favourites, so plenty of chances to win a prize or be chosen as a favourite!

I used my Thanks large word die and Thanks a Million stamp set for my card, together with a couple of not-yet-released products - Basic Backgrounds & Borders 2 stamp set and Basic Border Trio die set. These new sets are part of our Clearly Whimsy Stamps January 2015 release, so you're getting an early sneak peek, hehe!!  I embossed the diagonal stripes using my new WOW Metallic Gold Rich Sparkle glitter embossing powder (ref WS07).  When I was designing this card, I was originally going to use silver, but I prefer the warmth the gold gives with the colder teal and purple.

It's no secret that CAS(E) this Sketch! is one of my most favourite CAS challenges, and their current sketch #104 is running until 8th January, so I just had to join in!

That's it from me for today! Hope you have a great week and thanks so much for stopping by today!

showCASe your style SYSC#4: Sketch

Hi everyone! It's time for a new challenge at showCASe your challenge, and this fortnight we have a sketch for you ... designed by me, hehe!

You have until midnight EST on Wednesday 24th December to join in and link up your creation.

I used all of the *NEW* Gingerbread products I designed for Clearly Whimsy Stamps to create this card: Gingerbread House stamp set (sentiment), Gingerbread People stamp set, Gingerbread People die set and Gingerbread House die set (white ric rac).

Colour Q is one of my favourite go-to challenges, and so I followed this week's colour combination for my card.

SPD Sweet2Repeat Blog Hop!

Welcome to the SugarPea Designs Sweet 2 Repeat blog hop where we showcase our newest release! Now that you've had a chance to add these sweet sets to your SugarPea collection, we're bringing you even more inspiration! Be sure to hop along and leave a comment at each stop along the way for a chance to win $20 to spend in the SugarPea Designs Online Shoppe!

For my hop project I made some tags to use on our Christmas gifts this year.  The colour theme we have for our gift wrapping this year is navy, white and silver.  NOT my first choice by any means, lol, but it was impossible to get kraft, golds, browns and oranges this year (which is the colour of our tree decorations and our lounge), so we went with something completely different, haha!  I was going to photograph the tags with the wrapped gifts, but as all the paper we have used is foiled, it was impossible to photograph them without me in the reflection, haha!  So I decided to just photograph one tag and show you the front and back.

I cut out 2 tags from Bazzill Nightmist cardstock using the Sugar Cuts: Gift Tag die and glued the "wrong" sides together so that the front and back of the tag were both a nice canvas texture.  I then added a dotted border to both sides using a white gel pen.  I stamped the dotty label stamp from the Sweet Chic Collection: Layered Treat Labels in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with WOW! silver embossing powder.  I then cut it out using the corresponding Sugar Cuts: Layered Treat Label die.  I also used this die set to cut out the navy circle and the white circle, plus I used one of the pierced circle dies in the same set to add detail to the white circle die cut.

The sentiment is from the Sweet Chic Collection: Sweet Treats - Christmas stamp set, and again I stamped this in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with silver ep.  I cut out the largest star, the pierced banner, and the "to" and "from" words from silver mirri card using the internal dies from the Sugar Cuts: Gift Tag die.  I simply glued the pierced banner to the bottom of the front of the tag and snipped off the ends so it was flush with the edges of the tag.  The "to" and "from" die-cuts were fixed to the back of the tag, ready to add the recipient and sender's details with white gel pen:

Here are the graphics of the sets I used for my tag:

Leave a comment at each spot along the way for a chance to win $20 to spend on some SugarPea sweetness of your very own!
