Dreaming of a white Christmas

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I have a card to share for the second challenge of the brand new challenge blog, showCASe your style.   This fortnight we have a colour challenge and you have until midnight ET on Thursday 27th November to join in.

For my card, I covered my card base in some patterned paper from the Teresa Collins Tinsel & Company 6x6 paper pad.  I then cut some Bazzill Blackberry Swirl cardstock and used the wavy border die from the Whimsy Stamps Stitched Border Trio die set on the top and bottom edges. I then stamped the 2 different sized snowflake and the "Dreaming of a White" sentiment from the CWS Christmas Greetings stamp set in versamark and heat embossed with WOW Bright White embossing powder (WL01SF). Finally I die cut the word "Christmas" from AC POW Gold Glitter paper using my Whimsy Stamps Christmas large word die.

SugarPea Designs Holiday Release 2014: Merry Christmoose

Welcome to Day 4 of SugarPea Designs 2014 Holiday Release!  Today we are excited to sneak peek the amazing Merry Christmoose stamp set. Another fantastic set, jam-packed with accessory stamps and fabulous sentiments which make this an all-year-round set!

If you stopped by on Tuesday, you would have read about the horse riding accident our daughter had on Monday.  Miraculously she didn't break or fracture anything, but her horse did step on the back on both her legs (around the knee area), and so she sustained a lot of soft tissue damage and can't walk at the moment.  This meant that my first sneak peek card on Tuesday was a few hours late going up on my blog as we spent most of Monday at the Accident & Emergency department.  I was determined to finish Tuesday's card, as I hate letting anyone down.   Unfortunately, I am going to be late with today's offering as well, as I had to take our daughter to emergency care yesterday as she was crying in pain from one of the wounds she sustained.  But again, I am determined to finish it and get it up on my blog ASAP!  But in the meantime, do check out the amazing samples from the rest of my fabulous teammates - they have really knocked this release out of the park with their creations!

SugarPea Designs Holiday Release 2014: Have an Ice Day!

Welcome to Day 3 of SugarPea Designs 2014 Holiday Release!  Today we are excited to sneak peek the adorable Have an Ice Day stamp set. This is such a fun set with loads of different accessory stamps and awesome sentiments.

Again, I created the background for my card with Distress ink pads (told you I was obsessed, haha!) - Chipped Sapphire, Broken China and Tumbled Glass.  This time I used the card I use for Copic colouring.  I was worried that the distress inks wouldn't blend as well, as the card is very smooth and coated, but they did - yay!  Once I'd finished inking, I stamped the fabulous penguin stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black straight onto the background.  I then stamped the image again onto a clean piece of card, coloured the penguin sat on his block of ice, cut it out, and stuck it on top of the corresponding area on the background.  I coloured the ice hole, fishing rod, and the 2 puddles in Copic markers straight onto the background - as the distress inking was very minimal in this area, I was able to do this.  I could have stamped the image and masked it before inking the background, but I didn't feel I needed to (and to be honest, it's a bit of faff masking, lol!).  Finally, I stamped one of the sentiments from the stamp set together with the smallest snowflake stamp in Versamark and heat embossed in white.  A few additional specks of snow using a white gel pen, and it was finished!

SugarPea Designs Holiday Release 2014: Lost Without You

Welcome to Day 2 of SugarPea Designs 2014 Holiday Release - our LARGEST release yet and all just in time for the holiday crafting season!!

Yesterday we introduced Sugar Cuts, our brand new line of wafer-thin steel dies, together with a new line of clear stamps, Sweet Chic Collection. Today we are excited to sneak peek the adorable Lost Without You stamp set.  I adore this image, and the sentiments Wendy has added are beautiful.

I really love how this card turned out.  I only started creating backgrounds with distress inks this year (yep, I was very late to the "distres ink" party, lol!), but since then I have become a bit obsessed with it ... that and white heat embossing, lol!  I trimmed a piece of white card and then got to work with my distress ink pads.  The sky was created with (from dark to light) Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Broken China and Tumbled Glass, and then the grassy slopes were created with (from dark to light) Forest Moss, Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters.  I simply used a piece of torn paper for my mask and I love how it gives a more natural look to the slopes than using a die-cut curve (which I was initially going to use).  I heat embossed the gorgeous sentiment and star from the stamp set in white, and then added some stars using a white gel pen - simple!  I did add some shading underneath the shepherd and his sheep to "ground" them, as it looked a little like they were floating without it, lol!
