Welcome to Day 1 of the Whimsy Stamps ...
2014 Holiday Release - Part 2
A few weeks ago Whimsy Stamps released Part 1 of their 2014 Holiday Collection. Today, the DT and GDT are extremely excited to start sneak peeks for the second part of their 2014 Holiday Collection!
Over the next 3 days, myself and the team will reveal
18 *BRAND NEW* red rubber stamps/stamp sets and 6 *BRAND NEW* coordinating die/die sets. They will be available to buy from the
Whimsy Stamps store and selected Whimsy Stamps retailers on Wednesday.
We are thrilled to welcome
Stephanne Maraver,
Vicki Parson,
Denise Griffith,
Debbie Jennett,
Donna Rudy and
Crissy Armstrong as Guest Designers for this release. Welcome ladies!
Today we are excited to show you the brand new
Art by Mi Ran, Crissy Armstrong and
SC Design stamps and dies being released this month. For a full reveal of these stamps, hop on over to the
Whimsy blog!
I have designed
2 rubber stamp sets and
3 dies for this release, and I will share the details later in this post, but for today's project, I was inspired by the fabulous sketch over at
CAS(E) ths Sketch #95 challenge. I decided to use one of the bell dies from the
*new* Jingle Bells die set, along with some products I designed for previous Clearly Whimsy Stamps releases:
HAPPY large word die,
Basic Backgrounds & Borders 1 stamp set, and
Happy Everything stamp set. I think that next time I make this design, I won't add any liquid pearls and I'll use some silver thread inside of twine to hang the bells:
Here are the products I designed for our October rubber & die release:
Christmas Scene Builder is a 4x6" red rubber stamp set that comes with lots of different images for you to build scenes for Christmas and New Year. Although this is a standalone set, I designed it to compliment the
Winter Wonderland stamp set that was released in September. This set comes with 4 different sized trees, 2 sentiments, 2 different sized firework bursts, a cityscape, a flurry of snow and a santa & his reindeers.
I didn't make any cards using this set for this release, as I have a set of 5 cards plus a tag being published in the next issue of Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine using
this set and the
Winter Wonderland stamp set! This issue is due to be published on 30th October, so if you are a regular subscriber of Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine, be sure to look out for it!
My second 4x6" red rubber stamp set is called
Christmas Moments and is full of tried and tested Christmas sentiments. I think they work equally well with vintage or modern cards, and I hope they will become a firm favourite:
The first of 3 die sets I designed for this month's release is the one I used on today's card:
Jingle Bells die set. This set comes with 2 different bells, and the little separate curved die cuts out a ridge to place on top of the round bell for dimension (as you can see in my card above). I designed these bells to be the right size to either hang from a bow as an accent on your cards, or to be used as a focal point. I included a church bell design so that you can use this set all year round - weddings, perhaps? The round jingle bell is approximately 0.85x0.9" and the church bell is approximately 1x1.2". They both have embossed detail, which looks great if you cut them from mirri card:
The second die set is the
Wreath & Bow. The wreath measure approximately 2.4x2.3" and the bow is approximately 0.9x1". The holly leaves you can see on the wreath are cut lines, so you can lift up the leaves for dimension. I designed this set so that the previously released
Christmas Mini Tag Sentiments stamp set sentiments will fit perfectly in the middle of the wreath:
Finally, my third design is the
3D Bow Small die set. It comes in 3 pieces - the largest die is approximately 4.2x0.8". When assembled, the size of the bow is approximately 2.5x0.8" (including the tails). There are many 3D bow dies already on the market, so this is certainly not a new concept, but the size is perfect for accenting your cards instead of using a ribbon bow, or as a feature on its own.
