Sketch Saturday 153: Storybook Fairy

Recipe

Happy Saturday! Today I have my Sketch Saturday make to share with you.  We have another fabby sketch by Jo and this week we are being sponsored by one of our regular sponsors, The Craft Barn, who are offering up a prize of 2 Tatty Button stamps to one lucky winner!

I used 2 stamps from the most recent Whimsy Stamps rubber release for my card - Little Fairy Friend and Fairy Toadstools - plus one of the gorgeous Birthday Postage Stamps and the coordinating Postage Stamp die to cut it out!

I wanted to create the look of a page that had been ripped out of a storybook - I hope I suceeded! And so I just had to use the gorgeous 'book' paper from my Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe 6x6 pad for the main background DP (as well as 2 of the other designs in this pad). I got this paper pad from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie, who also stocks the fabulous Whimsy Stamps HERE for those of you in the UK/Europe.

Since recently buying a Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink Pad, I'm afraid I've been attacking most cards with it, LOL, and this one is no exception!  I also used some of the fab YNS Glittered Skittles in the centres of the white and the large yellow flower, plus added some red ones to the dotty horizontal strip - I adore these embellies!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

- Make it Monday with Kraft Outlet #16 May Day
- My Mum's Craft Shop Challenge #3 Flowers
- Party Time Tuesday #13 Anything Goes
- Simon Says Stamp Challenge Anything Goes
- Stamp Fairy#20 Sparkle (glitter), 3 Design Papers, 2 dies or punches (postage stamp die and MS border punch)

SCRSC40: Butterfly Cafe

Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to a brand new Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge! This week we have a fabulous photo to draw inspiration from:

I used my Cafe Lucy stamp for my card - I just love her! I chose to make a card with loads of elements from the photo - the floor (Kraft card), the butterflies, the flowers, the squares on the quilt, the colours!

As soon as I saw this photo, I just knew that my brand new Echo Park 'Springtime' 6x6 paper pad from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie was the absolute perfect fit for this card - my only dilemma was which of the gorgeous double-sided papers to use!  I actually ended up using just one piece, but both sides, as of course it coordinates perfectly!  I also pulled out my Viva Decor Pearl Pen to add 'bodies' to the butterflies, a centre to the flower in Lucy's hair and also to add teeny, tiny pearl buttons to her shirt!

SS152: Sparkle Creations 'Charlotte with a Rose'

Recipe
Sparkle Creations Charlotte with a Rose rubber stamp
Distress Ink Pad 'Vintage Photo'

Happy Easter Saturday everyone! Today I have my Sketch Saturday #152 make to share with you.

I was a very good girl this week (hee hee!) and didn't turn or flip Jo's fabulous sketch (and I even added the sentiment!):

This week we are being sponsored by Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps, and one lucky winner will win TWO SCRS rubber stamps - Scooter Chloe and Cruisin' Chloe.

I have used the darling Charlotte with a Rose for my card.  I paired her with some of the gorgeous and *NEW* Echo Park 'For the Record' 6x6 paper (available HERE from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie, along with all the other scrummy Echo Park 6x6 pads).  Regular readers of my blog will know that I LOVE Echo Park paper and have been not-so-patiently waiting for these paper pads to arrive here in the UK.  Well, I am not disappointed - they are even MORE gorgeous than I could have imagined!  Each pad contains 24 double-sided sheets of wonderful quality Echo Park paper with reduced patterns - perfect for us cardmakers.

Guess what? There are 3 ways to win 4 different SCRS rubber stamps at the moment! WOW! Not only is Sparkle sponsoring today's Sketch Saturday with 2 Chloe images, she is also giving away a Charlotte with a Rose stamp for this week's Friday Freebie!  So be sure to hop on over to THIS POST and leave a comment by Sunday at midnight EST to be included in the draw!

Also, this week's SCRS challenge #39 is still running until Monday evening (handmade embellishment), and if you join us you will be popped into the draw to win a Travelling Josh rubber stamp.  So why not get your SCRS stamps out, follow our fabby Sketch Saturday sketch and combine challenges!

Finally, Sparkle is running a special Easter weekend sale, where everything is 15% off...

So all that remains is for me to wish you all a wonderful Easter!  I hope you have a fabulous time, whatever you're up to!

Thank you, as always, for taking the time to drop by - it's so, so appreciated!

Hugs,

SCRSC39: Handmade Embellishment

Hi everyone! Today I have my Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge make to share! This week we are challenging you to add a handmade embellishment to your project.

I used Surfing Oliver stamp and followed this week's Cardabilities #29 sketch for my DT make.  Sparkle is sponsoring this week's Cardabilities challenge #29 with a fabulous prize package comprising Eight 6x6 sheets of the new and yummy Crate Paper Portrait Collection, coordinating buttons, prima flowers, 3 yards of ribbon AND Cupcake Ruby and Charlotte with a Rose SCRS rubber stamps! WOW!

My handmade embellishment is my buttons. I simply used a small circle punch to punch out 2 discs of patterned paper, inked the edges with some brown chalk ink, pierced 2 button holes in each 'button' with my SU pokey tool, then threaded some SU twine through, tied it, and voila!  Also, as I didn't have the correct punch to make the edging detail of the middle strip, I simply cut out pieces of brown card using my Labels 4 nesties and then glued them to the back of the white strip!

Sparkle Creations challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and they will receive a SCRS rubber stamp. [In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.]

Why not do as I have done and combine your SCRS challenge entry with this week's Cardabilities sketch to double your chances of winning some lovely Sparkle Creations rubber? The prize over at Cardabilities is

Sketch Saturday #151: Paper Makeup Stamps

Happy Saturday! Today I have my Sketch Saturday #151 make to share with you.

Again I played with the sketch, turning it 90 degree to the right and then flipping it horizontally:

From this: to this:

We are being sponsored by Paper Makeup Stamps today who are currently having their annual inventory reduction SALE! They've put over 100 of their stamps on sale (some of them being best sellers!), and you can grab 25%, 40% or even up to 80% off the regular selling price...CLICK HERE to go to the sale!!  Remember this sale is an annual event, and so there won't be a sale this big for another year!

I have used Moody for Holly for my card.  Unfortunately, this stamp is currently showing as 'out of stock' at n the PMS store ... however Elaine does have it in stock HERE at Quixotic Paperie! Yay! (FYI Quixotic Paperie is the only online UK stockist of PMS stamps!). Although this stamp was released for Christmas, I  coloured the berries in her hair the same colour as the leaves, and then popped some WOC roses on top - voila, a pretty, spring image!

I have used some more scrummy 6x6 Crate Paper for my card - this time from the 'Emma's Shoppe' pad (available from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie).

I would like to enter this card into a few challenges:

- DYSU #15 Scallops

We also have our wonderful special guests joining us for this hop - Beate Johns, Deb Routledge, Jacque Beddingfield, Mindy Baxter and Minna Paajanen.

The Whimsy Stamps DT have been sneak peeking these fabulous stamps for the past 5 days, so if you missed them be sure to hop on over to the Whimsy Inspirations Blog for some more inspiration!

Here is a full list of the wonderful new rubber stamps and dies being released today:

3 stamps from Crissy Armstrong
Big Comfy Cake ~ Come Fly With Me ~ Cupcake Bliss

3 stamps from Meljen's Designs
Curious Little Fairy ~ Fairy Toadstools ~ Little Fairy Friend

4 stamps from Kenny K
Biker Babe ~ Cheers Dude ~ Madison Attitude ~ Soho

3 stamps/sets from Raindrop Echo Designs
Everyday Mini Postage Stamps ~ Party Mini Letter Seals ~ Postcard Background

2 dies/sets from Raindrop Echo Designs
Mini Postage Die ~ Double Scallop Tag Die

If you would like to participate in the hop and you didn't arrive here from Patricia's blog, please CLICK HERE to return to the beginning of the hop at Annika’s blog.

The hop starts today (Wednesday April 13th at noon EST) and ends on Wednesday April 20th at noon EST.

For this hop we have 6 different prize draws! We have not one but TWO grand prize draws, so two lucky hoppers will win a large selection of new release stamps. Grand Prize 1 will be for those who help us advertise the hop, and Grand Prize 2 will be for those who hop along with us. We also have 4 mini candy stops throughout the hop where you can enter to win a new release stamp! I'm not going to tell you where they are, so if you haven't found them you'll just have go back to the beginning and start hopping! *wink*

For my blog hop creation I used Madison Attitude.  I decided that Madison was in France, shopping up a storm in Avenue des Champs-Elysees! I'm not sure what inspired this - perhaps it's because she's wearing a beret, LOL!

My gorgeous papers are from the scrummy Crate Paper 'Portrait' 6x6 pad (from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie - thanks so much!).  I LOVE Crate Paper, and was super excited when they first released 6x6 pads. My excitement was short-lived as I realised they had simply cut up the 12x12 papers instead of reducing the pattern.  Well, not so for their newest release - the new 6x6 pads have 32 sheets of 8 designs in REDUCED pattern, YIPPEE!!  And the best thing for me is that there are 4 sheets of each pattern, so I can use it loads and still keep some to stroke, LOL!

I'm also a HUGE fan of Echo Park paper and I'm am beside myself that they have now released 6x6 paper pads for us card-makers!  I have been not-so-patiently waiting for these to arrive here in the UK .... and now they are here - WOO-HOO! Hop on over to Quixotic Paperie to place your order ... but please promise to leave me some!

I also used the Postcard Background stamp, the Everyday Mini Postage Stamps and the Mini Postage Stamp Die [All the new release stamps and dies are available to buy from the Whimsy Stamps store.  If you are in UK/Europe you can also buy them from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie]

Finally, here is a complete blog hop list in hopping order:

As I am the very last stop on today's hop, I am hosting the FINAL GRAND PRIZE DRAW!! Do you fancy winning this little lot? ...

A fabulous prize package of 8 of the new release stamp/stamp sets!! WOW!! All you need to do is pop your details into the InLinkz list below to be entered into the draw to win!!  [NB Please make sure you add a valid email address, otherwise we won't be able to contact you if you are the lucky winner!].

Thank you so much for hopping with us today and I hope you enjoy the new release!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to a brand new Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge! This week we have one of Kim's fabulous sketches to follow:

I used Turntable Josh for my card today, and dug out some old BG papers.  The blue card is actually a very deep blue/green, but it does look almost blue/black in the piccie - sorry!  I also used one of the dies I had for my birthday - MFT Die-namics Notebook Edge - I think this is my new favourite die, hee hee!

Sparkle Creations challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and they will receive a SCRS rubber stamp. [In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.]

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Tickled Pink Stamps New Release BLOG HOP

I'm so excited today as I get to be a guest designer for the Tickled Pink Stamps new release BLOG HOP - WOO-HOO!  Thank you, Kellie!
If you've hopped here from Maria's blog, then you're on the right track.  If not, CLICK HERE to go back to the beginning at Amy's blog, as I'm positive you won't want to miss anything!

I was assigned Lil Pinkette Coraline for my blog hop card. Don't you just LOVE her attitude?  I used some more of my scrummy MME Stella Rose Gertie paper pad (bought HERE from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie).  I don't mind admitting that this card took me a LONG time to get right, even though it's very simple.  I ended up colouring 3 Coralines - not because I was unhappy with my colouring, but because I had a few cutting out accidents where a few things got inadvertently snipped off - oops!  Then I made a mess of inking the white oval and had to do this over! I think I may need to get my prescription checked, or perhaps get a decent lamp to work with at night, LOL!

So now it's time for you to continue on over to Tash's blog!  Don't forget to leave me a comment before you go, as one lucky hopper will WIN a full set of the new release in rubber ... but you MUST comment on every blog along the hop to be entered into the draw!

Also, once you've finished the hop, do have a peek at the preview posts over at the Tickled Pink Stamps Blog - the TPS DT and guests have been showcasing these adorable new stamps since Thursday - there is SO much inpsiration over there, you will be blown away!

Hope you're having a great Sunday.  I'm crossing my fingers and toes that Mr Blogger plays nice as I had to schedule this post as we are out and about today.  Daughter finished school on Friday for the Easter break.  This holiday is a long one - off til 26 April, back in school for 3 days, then off til 3 May when they start Term 5.  Of course there's the extra public holiday on 29 April for the Royal Wedding, and I've just found out that we're getting an extra public holiday next June (2012) too for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee!  Even though I was only 3 years old, I can remember the street party we had for the Silver Jubilee - gosh, I feel really old now, LOL!

Okay, well that's enough from me! .... Till Next Time, Think {PINK} (always wanted to say that, hee hee!)

Sparkle Creations RELEASE DAY!

Hello everyone and welcome to Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps release day!

Today, the DT (along with our April guest designer Suzanne Bier) are showcasing the second of 2 brand new SCRS stamps that are available to buy RIGHT NOW from the SCRS store! So without further ado, I am pleased to introduce ... DAFFODIL CHARLOTTE ... (I also used the sentiment from yesterday's 'Rainy Day Ruby' stamp set):

(Apologies for the poorly lit photo ~ it was taken as the sun was setting! I'll re-take and update as soon as possible}

This is also my Sketch Saturday make! We have another amazing sketch by Jo (which I rotated 90 degrees to the left, and then flipped it horizontally) and this week we are being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

From this: to this -->

My yummy papers are MME Stella Rose 'Gertie' 6x6 paper pad that I bought HERE from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie as part of my birthday money spend (thank you Sheila and Elaine!!).  They are SO pretty!!   On Tuesday I ordered a little packet of 5 mulberry daffodil flowers from an online shop I haven't used before.  I had hoped they would have arrived by today so that I could use them on my card, but alas they haven't.  Therefore I've tried to make a bit of a daffodil-esque flower using a Prima and a WOC cherry blossom.  The Wild Orchid Crafts flowers I have used are: yellow/orange cherry blossomivory cherry blossom, 15mm yellow open rose and 10mm ivory open rose.

Be sure to visit all rest of the SCRS designers for more peeks of Daffodil Charlotte. Sparkle will be giving away Daffodil Charlotte to one lucky person! For a chance to WIN, you need to visit and comment on all of the designer's Daffodil Charlotte blog posts (links listed below). Then head on over to the SCRS blog and comment on the Daffodil Charlotte post there. You have until midnight EST today to comment and the lucky winner will be announced tomorrow!

And of course, be sure to hop on over to Sketch Saturday to see what the girls have done with Jo's fabby sketch!

Thanks for dropping by!

Sparkle Creations: Introducing .. Rainy Day Ruby

Hello everyone and welcome to Day 1 of Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps new release sneak peeks!

Today, the DT (along with our April guest designer Suzanne Bier), are showcasing the first of 2 brand new SCRS stamps that will be released tomorrow. So without further ado, I am pleased to introduce ... RAINY DAY RUBY and sentiment ...

As you can see, I didn't add the sentiment to my card (for no other reason than I just completely forgot about it, oops! *blush* sorry!).  It reads "wishing you sunshine" and is just perfect for this stamp!

Here is a close up of the scene I created with this image:

First, I stamped the image and then drew in the pavement. Next I masked the image and pavement and created a sky background by using some Versamagic Chalk ink and a cloud die cut.  I then got to work adding some grass and colouring the image and pavement.  I then decided to paper piece Ruby's umbrella, coat and boots, using the C00s copics to give some shading.  I used my Viva Decor Holo Iridescent glitter liner pen to fill in the falling raindrops, and finally I added some glossy accents to the pavement (to look like puddles) and to Ruby's umbrella for that 'authentic' wet look! Ooh, and I used my Viva Decor Pearl pen to give Ruby a 'real' pearl earring!

The majority of time was spent creating my image plate and I did this over a couple of days.  The actual putting together of the card was relatively easy. I am very proud that this layout is my own and evolved as I was putting the card together (you know how much I love to rely on sketches, LOL!).  I didn't have any ribbon to match, so I used my YG03 copic to colour some white ribbon.

Be sure to visit all rest of the SCRS designers for more peeks of Rainy Day Ruby. Sparkle will be giving away Rainy Day Ruby to one lucky person! For a chance to WIN, you need to visit and comment on all of the designer's Rainy Day Ruby blog posts (links listed below). Then head on over to the SCRS blog and comment on the Rainy Day Ruby post there. You have until midnight EST today to comment and the lucky winner will be announced tomorrow!

SCRSC37: Splashing through Neutrals

[ETA new and improved photo - the other was AWFUL, sorry!]

Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to a brand new Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge! This week we have a a colour challenge for you - use neutrals with a splash of colour.  I think I got this a little wrong, as I was thought it was neurals with one colour - oops!!  My colour splash is orange, but you could add as many colours as you want as long as the majority of your card is neutral.

I would also like to wish Sparkle a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! Hope you have a birthday as wonderful as you, chick! I count my lucky stars every single day that I get to be on your Design Team - thank you!!!!!  You ROCK!!

I used Cruisin' Chloe for my DT make today.   When I update the photo you will be able to see that I used glossy accents along with some glitter on the windcreen and headlights. I applied one layer of gloss and then sprinkled with just a smidgen of glitter. Once that was dry I then applied a 2nd coat of gloss to finish.  It looks really cool IRL!

I also want to let you know that Sparkle is sponsoring Unscripted Sketches #100 this week and you could win one of two SCRS rubber stamps (Scooter Chloe or Swimming Lucy) if you join in.  So why combine our challenge with US#100 and you will have 2 chances to win some lovely SCRS rubbah!

Sparkle Creations challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and they will receive a SCRS rubber stamp. [In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.]

For those who are interested, this card is for sale HERE in my ETSY SHOP.

Do pop along to the rest of the SCRS DT's blogs to take a peek at their awesome challenge creations and don't forget to wish Sparkle a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Kenny K Star and my sketch!

Hey everyone!  Today I have my Sketch Saturday DT make to share with you!  As it's the first Saturday of the month, it's 'DT week' over at SS which means Jo gets to have a well-earned break and one of the SS gals hosts the challenge.  Today it's my turn and I have come up with this sketch for you:

We are being sponsored by the amazing Whimsy Stamps - thank you SO much Denise!!!  If you join in this week, you will be entered into the draw to win a Whimsy Stamps rubber stamp and die package worth a total of $31!!  How awesome is that?

For my card I used Kenny K for Whimsy Stamps 'Star' image and also the Music Notes background stamp to create the music sheet.  I decided to go for a gothic feel for this card, and so distressed, sanded and inked almost everything, LOL!  The black ribbon is organza and I ruffled it by laying down a double-sided strip of tape (the permanent and really sticky stuff!) and then ruffled as I stuck!  Easy peasy - much quicker than sewing!  For the music paper I found some Parchment paper that I've had for many years (used to use it for printing out CVs many moons ago!), stamped the Music Notes image in black ink, inked up the edges with some black chalk ink, screwed it up so it was all creased, then distressed the edges using my Tim Holtz edge distresser and carefully tore it in places.

I really love how his card turned out (not often I like my own work, LOL!), but I had a really hard time photographing it (probably because it was thunderstorming at the time!).  It is quite different from my 'usual' style, and I was worried I couldn't pull it off, but I like the gothic/vintage look! :o)

This card is available to buy from my ETSY shop HERE.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
