Sketch Saturday #148: Whimsy Club Kid

Happy Saturday! Today I have my Sketch Saturday #148 make to share with you. We are being sponsored by The Craft Barn and one lucky participant will win a *NEW* Tim Holtz Air Travel plate worth £19.25! WOW! This is one of those times when I wish I could be entered into the draw! LOL!

And here is sketch #148:

I don't mind admitting that this sketch was a challenge for me!  I actually started my DT make on Wednesday would you believe, but after a lot of faffing about and cutting up of lots of different paper, I eventually binned the card this morning and started again.  I ended up rotating the sketch 90 degrees to the left and substituted the triangles for die cuts.

This sassy image is one of the newest Kenny K for Whimsy Stamps rubber stamps called 'Club Kid'.  I coloured her with Copics and had intended NOT to colour her hair with lots of texture, but have now found that I actually can't colour hair any other way ... oops!!  I also used the 'celebrate your day' sentiment from the Party Pony stamp set and the accessory stamp (stamped in the corners of the image plate) from the Spring Stepping stamp set.

The DPs and die cuts are from the Crate Paper Brook Collection Kit.  I also have the Crate Paper Pink Plum Collection Kit in my stash (another of my favourites from Crate Paper) and this kit is currently on sale at 50% off at only £8.00 over at Quixotic Paperie!  The paper really is gorgeous quality and if you don't have either of these kits, buy them!!  When I first heard that Crate Paper were bringing out 6x6 pads I was really excited, but I then found out that they didn't actualy scale down the patterns but simply just cut the 12x12 into four 6x6 pieces!!!  So disappointing!  However, Echo Park are about to release 5 of their current lines in 6x6 pads, in which the patterns have been sized down, so I can't WAIT to get these!! :o)

Hope you're having a great weekend and thanks for dropping by!

SCRSC35: Swimming Lucy

Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to a brand new Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge! This week we have a fabby colour challenge for you of PINK ORANGE and GREEN!

I used the cute and sassy Swimming Lucy from our very first release for my card:

I coloured Lucy with Copic markers, added some SU glitter to the waves and to the tiny butterfly, and then cut her out.  I then made a sky background using some chalk ink and a cloud die for a template.  Then I stuck the water part straight to the background but popped up Lucy using some thin foam tape.  I made the banner myself by simply drawing and cutting out a banner template and then using it to guide me when cutting out the DP (the banner is held together with some Divine Twine).

I have also used some of the FABULOUS YNS Glittered Skittles on my card - yes, I admit it, I can't stop using them, LOL!  I have used Princess Pink in the smaller size.  Glittered Skittles come in 11 different colours, and you can either buy them in single colour packs or buy a pack with a small amount of all the colours and sizes called Fruit Salad Karen is holding a quick giveaway over at the YNS blog to win some of these Glittered Skittles along with a YNS stamp, so be sure to enter by Wednesday to be included in the draw.

Finally, I want to let you know that Sparkle has kindly decided to donate $5 to the Japan Earthquake appeal for every Rin stamp bought through the rest of this month.  You can snag Lantern Rin and/or Rin and Snowman for $5 each - 100% of the sale price will be donated.

Sparkle Creations challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and they will receive a SCRS rubber stamp. [In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.]

Do pop along to the rest of the SCRS DT's blogs to take a peek at their awesome challenge creations:

Finally I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

- Waltzing Mouse Challenge #39 Sketch
- GingerLoft #14 Die Cuts or Punches

I have used one of the brand new releases from Your Next Stamp for my card, Easter Egg Tree.  It is one of my favourite stamps from our new release.  I used some long-forgotten MME papers that I received with a papercrating magazine last year, and also added some of the BRAND NEW YNS Glittered Skittles embellies to follow our current YNS Challenge of 'Sparkle'. I have used 'Crystal Ice' on my card, but these gorgeous flatback glittery embellies come in a whole host of different colours.

SS146 & Whimsy Sneak Peek Day 1

This is my second post of the day! For my Sparkle Creations new release post, please scroll down to the previous post - thanks! :o)

As it's Saturday, it's time for a brand new sketch over at Sketch Saturday...

Today is also the first of 4 days of Whimsy Stamps New Release Sneak Peeks.  From today until Tuesday, the Whimsy DT are showcasing the stamps that will be released on Wednesday! YAY!  Today we are sneak peeking the new stamps illustrated by Crissy Armstrong, and I have used Celebrate Big! for today's creation:

Red is one of my favourite colours after orange, turquoise and lime green.  I have a lot of red tops (in fact I am wearing one of my red sweaters right now, LOL!) but I always forget that my digi camera HATES red, LOL!  It's almost impossible to correctly capture the colours in a card that I've added red to, and even with some limited editing through Windows Live Photo Gallery, I still haven't managed to get a good 'real-life' piccie!  To give you an idea, I have used Copic R27 for the deepest red colour, but I think it looks quite orangey here?  Well, I'm sure everyone has (or has had) this BG paper, so you know what it's supposed to look like, LOL!

The Whimsy Stamps DT are holding a fun BLOG HOP to celebrate our new release on March 16th. We have a tonne of prizes to give away, so be sure to join us then!

Hope your weekend is fabulous!

Hugs,

If you would like to participate in the hop then you are at the right place, as I am the start of the hop!!

The hop starts today (8 March 2011 at 08:00 EST) which also happens to be my birthday!!  Yippee!!  And it ends on 11 March 2011 at midnight EST.

As always here at Your Next Stamp, we have a wonderful prize for you to win! One lucky winner will be drawn at random from the links in the linky list to receive a surprise package of new release stamps!  Just add your name to the linky list at the end of this post to be entered into the prize draw!

Karen is also running a special 10% off promotion from today until 14 March 2011. Just enter the code YNSMARCH when checking out to apply your 10% discount. There are also some FANTASTIC special offers and promotions running over at the YNS store at the moment, so once you've finished the hop be sure to hop on over and check out the clearance sections: 35% off selected stamps - 50% off selected stamps - 60% off selected bare rubber stamps - 35% off selected embellishments - 35% off selected DP sampler packs. WOW! What a great time to grab a bargain!

I went a little mad and made 3 cards for you today using 5 different new release stamps!! So here they are:

Spring Stair-step Card
YNS Stamps used: Cute Bunny with Flowers, Cute Sheep with Flowers, Just Hatched (all Dale Designs)

I covered the shell of the egg in Glossy Accents to make it nice and shiny, added some fun white flowersoft to the bunny's tail and tummy, used actual cotton wool for the clouds, some Viva Decor glitter liner (from Quixotic Paperie) for the centres of the flowers and butterflies, and I made the trees using a SU punch and my fair hands, and the banner was made completely from scratch complete with Divine Twine from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie!  I had a LOT of fun making this card! :o)

Blowing Smoke
YNS stamp used: Dante Dragon (Franfou Designs)

I followed the Viva La Verve challenge sketch for week 1 (VLVMar2011) by Amber Hight for this card and used some of my beloved October Afternoon design papers - yum!!

Spring Garden
YNS stamp used: Dixie Daisy (Franfou Designs)

I completely blame my fellow YNS DT teamie Jenny for me purchasing these wonderful MFT Die-namic cloud dies!!  Aren't they the cutest?  I bought them from Tracy at Dies to Die For, who not only offers the BEST service ever, but stocks (I think) the biggest MFT Die-namics range in the UK! Yay!  I used some Echo Park Sweet Sumnmertime paper for this card (available HERE from Quixotic Paperie) and followed this month's sketch over at Sugar Creek Hollow.

I'd like to enter these cards into some challenges:

Sketch Saturday #145

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I have my Sketch Saturday DT make to share.  As it's the first Saturday of the month, our wonderful leader, Jo, gets to have a rest and one of the DT take over and provides the sketch.  This month it's Cazza's turn, and she has given us a fab sketch to follow - thanks hun!  We're being sponsored by Lisa B Designs and Lisa is offering one lucky winner 4 of her fantastic clear stamps PLUS a Wild Rose Studio Paper Pack!! WOW!!!

The SS DT were extremely lucky to be given one of Lisa's stamps to work with for this week's DT make, and so I just want to say a huge thank you to Lisa and Cazza for this!!  I chose the adorable Minx ... Where's He Gone? stamp for my card - isn't he the cutest?  The stamps are wonderful quality and stamp like a dream first time, even with my Memento ink (I find I can't use this ink with some of my clear stamps). This particular stamp is currently 30% off in the LisaBDesigns store, and so you can snag it for only £3.15 (plus shipping & handling). WOW!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

- Alphabet Challenge R is for Ribbon
- Simply Create #38 Flowers
- Charisma Cardz #9 Four Legged Friends
- Little Miss Muffet #4 Designer Paper
- Meljens Challenge #48 Animal
- Play Date Cafe #71 B&W +1 other colour
- Belli #112 Animals
- Gingerloft #12 Furry Friends

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, whatever you're up to!  I have a monster migraine and so am probably going to spend the next few hours in a dark room willing it to go! :o)

Sparkle Creations & Sketch Saturday

Hi everyone!

WOW! This past week has been really topsy-turvy for me. You may have noticed that I missed my Sparkle Creations challenge last week (SCRS31) and also my Sketch Saturday card this Saturday.  I'm SO sorry to Sparkle and Jo and my teamies.  I have emailed them to explain, but also wanted to apologise here.  Apart from the shocking news about the NZ earthquake, I have been suffering terribly with my health - first my teeth and then my other problem which is too personal to discuss here on an open forum.  Anyway, enough doom and gloom!

So to play catch up I have combined yesterday's brand new Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge with the most recent Sketch Saturday sketch!

This week our theme at SCRS is PUNCHES and if you play along you could win Street Corner Josh (one of my faves).  [In order to qualify for the prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.

Here is the SS144 sketch that I followed, and this week at SS we are being sponsored by The Craft Barn who are offering 2 Sarah Kay stamps (winner's choice):

As you can see, I turned the sketch 90 degress to the left and used one of my fave SCRS stamps, Chef Oliver.  I used my SU scallop border punch to create 2 lines of 'peas'.  I know the sketch requires one, but I have a thing about symmetry, and just couldn't resist adding another strip down the other side, LOL! I know this card isn't one of my best (I think it would look much more finished with the addition of stitching, but I don't own a sewing machine!), and I apologise for the poor lighting of the photo.

Do pop along to SCRS and Sketch Saturday to take a peek at my amazingly talented DT sisters' stunning work!

Thanks for dropping by!

Hugs,

YNSC#37: Asha from India

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I have my YNS Challenge #37 DT make to share. We have a nice and easy colour challenge of BLUE for you this fortnight, so we want to see a little or a lot of blue on your challenge projects!

This is also our very first challenge of our new DT term!  Most of the team from our last term have stayed on for another term (yay!), with just a few changes.  We bid a fond farewell to Sylvia and Linda at the end of last month, and we have two new YNS starlets joining us for this new term.  So I would like to say a personal WELCOME to Dana and Diana! I'm so looking forward to working with you both! :o)

For my challenge creation I decided to use one of the brand new World Kids stamps - Asha from India.  Isn't she darling?  I have had the 8x8 DCWV Taj Mahal stack in my stash for ages now (ever since I bought it in a sale a while ago), and it was perfect for this World Kids stamp...but not so easy to photograph foiled card, LOL!

I really wanted to paper piece Asha's sari, but the DCWV paper  is coated and extremely shiny, and try as I might, none of my ink would dry!  However, I did paper piece her sash!  I stamped in versamark, sprinkled some gold EP over, and then heat embossed. I then cut out the sash and added gold glitter glue to the middle panel. Then once it was dry, I stuck it on to my copic-coloured Asha and voila!  I didn't have a flatback gem tiny enough to use for Asha's bindi, so I improvised and used a teeny, tiny dab of my Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Bronze.

Please do hop on over to the YNS Challenge blog and take a peek at my teamies creations - they are as gorgeous as ever!

Oh, and before I go I just want to tell you all about the revamp of the YNS blog.  Up until very recently it has been Karen's personal blog, but Karen would now like this blog to be more of a YNS company blog, and so you will see regular posts from both the DT as well as Karen now!  And to mark this change, we've revamped the look of the blog, so we'd love to invite you to pop on over and take a peek!

Finally, I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

- Copic Creations #45 Complimentary colours
- Papertake Weekly Anything Goes
- Craft Your Passion #47 Girly Girl
- Cupcake Craft #131 Anything but square

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday, and thank you so much for taking the time to pop by my little corner of the www today!! :o)

Hugs,
