Quixotic Challenge: Judy's Sketch

Happy Wednesday everyone!  After a few weeks break, it's time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic Challenges and this week Judy has given us this fab SKETCH to work with (perfect for using up your scraps!):

Everything I used to make this card (except for the card blank, black card, black ribbon, Copics, Oval nesties and white card) is available to buy at Quixotic Paperie!  Here's a full list......

Supplies used available to buy from Quxotic Paperie:

PLEASE NOTE that we now have NEW CHALLENGE RULES at Quixotic Challenges, so make sure you read them (they're in the sidebar).

I'm not wild about this card at all - really don't like the way I've coloured the dog, but I had so many disasters when making this that after 3 hours I just had to make the best of what I had, kwim?  Very busy and very stressed out at the moment, so I'm finding it extremely hard to get my mojo going... but I know we all have those days! {{grin}}

Thanks for popping by!

Elisabeth Bell for SCACD new release BLOG HOP!

Hello and welcome to the SCACD release day BLOG HOP!

We have all been dying to show you the gorgeous new collection by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Stamps - Sampler Edition #5, and we know you've been just as eager to see them!

There is a fabulous line up for you today, with the SCACD Design Team, the Quixotic Paperie Design Team and our very special guest - Susanna Boyd of CardoftheWeek and Papercraft Planet! Lots of lovely inspiration!

The new collection is now available over at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design in the Elisabeth Bell section! And for those of you in the UK/Europe, the collection is also available at Quixotic Paperie, in stock and ready to go!

You should have hopped over here from  Danni's gorgeous blog.

If you're only just joining us, you may want to start at the beginning over on Suzanne Dean's Blog, as you definitely don't want to miss any of the gorgeous creations! If you get lost at any point, or just want a recap on all the info, pop on over to the SCACD Store Blog!

I have used the adorable 'Howdy' for my creation today:

'Howdy' was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Copic Ciaos.  I used some fabulous Basic Grey 'Max and Whiskers' paper, as I thought the colours went really well with this image!  (My paper is a piece of 12x12, but you can grab the 6x6 Max and Whiskers pad HERE from Quixotic Paperie).  I sanded the Core'dinations 12x12 Colorcore card, and inked around the edges of the SU Kraft cardstock with my Jumbo Java versamagic dew drop pad.  I used some SU linen thread to loop around the brads, and finally added some of the fabulous Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Adage Tickets to finish!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Truly Scrumptious Challenge #35 - I have followed this fab sketch!
2. BasicGrey Challenge #22 - Colour Combo (there is a bit of orange on my card, but perhaps I can get away with it being a 'shade' of brown, LOL?)
3. Totally Gorjuss Challenge #35 - Sugar & Spice
So now it's time for you to hop on over to the fabulous Alex's blog ... but of course I'd love it if you left a comment first!! ;o)

Thanks so much for hopping along with us today!  I hope you enjoy the new release!

YNS Challenge #19: Rock Star Fhinn

Hey everyone!

This morning I'd like to share with you my DT card for Your Next Stamp Challenges.  It's Amy's turn to set the theme for Challenge #19 and she has chosen... PATTERNED / PRINTED RIBBON!

I have used my Rock Star Fhinn stamp to create my card and followed an old Mojo Monday sketch (#136).  I really, really wanted to make another 'male' card, as I'm planning to have a table at our dd's school summer fayre this coming Saturday (to raise money for the school and also for the British Scoliosis Research Foundation), and I have a really pathetic pile (if you can call it a 'pile'!) of cards suitable for males!  So this posed rather a problem when finding some 'male' printed/patterned ribbon, but after a bit of a route around, I found the only striped piece of ribbon I own (and luckily it's not pink, LOL!).

I also want to let you know that there is a SALE on right now at Your Next Stamp!  Karen is retiring some of the original stamp sets and so has reduced them by 35% - WOW!! But you better be quick to bag a bargain, as once these sets are gone, they won't be coming back ... ever!!  Karen has also introduced a fun "Mystery Stamp Package" to the store for only $4.00 - click here to view the details!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Creative Craft Challenge - Stamp it Up
2. One Stop Craft Week 85 - One for the Boys
3. Magical Crafts Challenge #17 - Something for a Male / Father's Day

I'm feeling pretty rotten today - dd has her appointment to see the paediatric neurologist this afternoon (which we're obviously very concerned about), plus my GP diagnosed me with labyrinthitis yesterday!!  As the room is literally spinning (I feel drunk without being drunk!), I have been advised not to drive, and so it's going to be a bit of a logistical nightmare this afternoon as hubby's a school teacher and his school won't allow him any time off!  Just hope I can focus enough to take in what the specialist has to say, LOL!  So if you see wonky cards/piccies on my blog in the next week or so, you'll know the reason why! ;o)

Do pop on over to YNS Challenges and check out what the rest of Starlets have created.

Thanks for dropping by!

Whimsy Stamps: Emma Swinging

Hey everyone!  It's my turn to post on the Whimsy Inspiration's blog today, and I have a brand new card to share that I finished literally 30 minutes ago!

I've used one of the May release Whimsy Digi stamps called "Emma Swinging" - she is available to download instantly from the Whimsy Store along with all the other scrumptious Whimsy digi stamps (and of course Whimsy rubber ... although you'll have to wait for your postie to deliver those, LOL!).

I've decided that I'm going to have to tidy up my crafty stash, as I'm just shoving things in my Ikea storage unit at the moment and consequently it's very difficult to find stuff quickly and efficently!  Although I don't have a huge amount of stash, I am finding that I'm forgetting stuff that I've 'hidden' away, like this fairly new DCWV Garden Variety stack that I've used for today's card. So I think a trip to Ikea is necessary (urghh!) plus I'm going to have to spend some pennies on some 12x12 paper storage and a good system for storing stamps., baskets for punches, etc. etc - you know the drill!  I do have my buttons and nesties sorted and stored ... well it's a start, LOL!

I've followed this fortnight's fab sketch from Truly Scrumptious (in its mirror-image) -Whimy Stamps is sponsoring this challenge, so do pop along and join in to be in with a chance of winning a $15 Whimsy gift certificate!  Talking of sponsorship and challenges, I can also give you the heads up that Whimsy is sponsoring tomorrow's new Creative Card Crew challenge!  So two chances to win some Whimsy goodies this week!

Wishing you a wonderful day, whatever you're up to!
Thanks for popping by!

New Mo Manning rubber at Quixotic

[click on the pic to enlarge it]

Happy Father's Day everyone!

Today I'd like to share with you a card I've made with one of the brand new Stamping Bella Mo Manning rubber stamps that are now in stock and ready to buy at Quixotic Paperie.  This FABULOUS stamp is appropriately called "Game On" and can be purchased HERE.  I love using large stamps (this one is 3.5" x 3.25") as then the image becomes the focal point of the card.  Yes, it took ages to colour, but this is the part I love the most about stamping/card making and so I basked in it, LOL!

I also used some paper from the fabulous Cosmo Cricket 'Joy Ride' 6x6 mini deck, which is my current go-to for male cards!  I usually find adult male cards almost impossible to make, but with these new Mo Manning stamps, they are no-brainers and a pleasure to create!

The next new release Stamping Bella Mo Manning stamp I'm going to use is "Big Guy Grilling" - every man I know seems to love being in charge of the BBQ!  I'm positive this stamp is going to sell out fast, so hop on over to QP now and grab yours ... but be prepared to spend up large as Elaine has added tonnes of new goodies to the store ... Echo Park Summertime paper pack ... TGF Sunshine Stamp Kit ... Tim Holtz 12x12 Lost and Found paper pads ... CC Designs Sweet November June Release (Amy's wonderful mermaids!) ... in fact too much to mention here!!  Go to the main page of QP to see a full list of all the new yumminess!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Magical Crafts Challenge #17 - Something for a Male / Father's Day
2. Cupcake Craft Challenge #95 - One for the Boys
3. Creative Craft Challenges - For the man in your life
4. Creative Inspirations Challenge #65 - One for the Boys
5. One Stop Craft Challenge #85 - One for the Boys

Thanks for popping by and have a fabulous day!

Sketch Saturday #108: Spring Fairy

Hey everyone!

This week over at Sketch Saturday we have another fab sketch by the amazing Jo, and this week we are being sponsored by Digital Delights!

As you can see, I turned this wonderful sketch 180 degrees and used a TGF digi stamp (Spring Fairy) that I won a while back but haven't used before now!  I'm not particularly happy with a few elements of this card and I think the paper is a bit too busy, but hey ho, it's made now!  Note to self: don't use Stickles with digi images that are printed using our old HP5552 inkjet printer as it makes the ink run (as it has done on the fairy wings, grrr!).

[I'd be interested to know if the colours of this card appear vibrant or drab and grey, as when I view this card using our HP desktop PC it looks 'correct', but when I view it using our Samsung laptop, it looks really drab!]

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Crazy 4 Challenges C4C42 - Paper Flowers
2. Sentimental Sundays - Summertime
3. Bunny Zoe's Crafts Challenge #1 - Nice and Girly
4. ASFOS Challenge #108 - Enjoying the Sunshine
5. PaperPlay Challenge Week 24 - Something Old I have had this MME paper since it was first released, but haven't used it until today.
6. Stamp Something - Something Summer  Although my digi stamp is called 'Spring Fairy' I think my card is very summery! :o)
7. Papertake Weekly -Ice Cream Flavours I've gone for Choco Mint with Raspberry Ripple, and to prove this is an actual flavour, here's a pic...

Have a fab weekend folks, whatever you're doing!  I'm off to find my lost mojo.....

Thanks for popping by!

Sketch Saturday #107: Butterfly Fly Away...

Happy Monday everyone!

So sorry I'm a couple of dats late posting my Sketch Saturday card - all I will say is "grrrrrr" to our Sky internet, LOL!!  This week we have another fab sketch by our wonderful leader Jo, and we are being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp!

This card completely evolved from my paper choice.  I was rifling through my stash, looking for a piece with at least 4 different colours and came across one of my fave BG pads - Ambrosia.  Once I'd made the basic card, I felt it had a kind of 'gothic' feel, and so I chose to use one of my Sugar Nellie Gorjuss girls stamps (I only have 2, LOL!).  I paper pieced her dress using a little scrap of paper from the same pad and had a go at colouring her hair black using strokes rather than 'blending' in circles.  I'm really pleased at how it came out!  I distressed all the edges of the DP and image plate with my Versamagic black chalk ink dew drop pad, and created my punched out corners by using one of my MS border punches!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Simon Says Challenge - A Recipe : 1 image, 2 DP, 3 embellies (pearls, ribbon, gems on the butterfly)
2. Our Creative Corner - Gotcha Cornered  OCC want us to focus on our corners this week with stamped impressions, flourishes, die cuts, bling, flowers or anything fun that strikes your fancy. I've embellished 2 corners with my black flatback pearls, plus I've punched the corners of my image plate!
3. Bunny Zoe's Crafts Monthly Challenge #1 - Nice & Girly I don't think 'girly' has to mean 'pink', LOL!
4. Pollycraft Monday Challenge #48 - Sing Song!  They would like to see a project inspired by a song...so use a song title/lyrics as your sentiment... or create your card with a song in mind.  I was listening to the Hannah Montana Movie soundtrack when I was making this card, and so this card is inspired by my most fave song from the CD - "Butterfly Fly Away"....

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Thanks for popping by!

Hugs,

Quixotic Challenge #29: Fold it!

Hello again!  It's time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic Challenges and Rowena has chosen the theme of FOLD IT for us this week, so we want to see you create something with more than one fold (e.g. fancy fold cards or boxes etc)

I have made an easel card and followed the fab sketch over at The Sweet Stop for my 'main' panel.  So difficult to photograph, LOL, but here's a side view so you can see the folds:

PLEASE NOTE that we now have NEW CHALLENGE RULES at Quixotic Challenges, which means that you can only enter our challenges if you use a stamp that Elaine stocks (or another stocked product if you don't use stamping on your project).  You can read them in detail HERE,

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. The Sweet Stop Sketch #59 (SSS59) - I have followed this wonderful sketch!
2. Simon Says Stamp Recipe Challenge - 1 image, 2 patterned papers, 3 types of embellies (ribbon, flower, buttons)

Thanks for popping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

YNS Challenge #18: Buttons

Hey everyone!

This morning I'd like to share with you my DT card for Your Next Stamp Challenges.  It's my turn to set the theme for Challenge #18 and I have chosen... BUTTONS!  So raid your button stash and let's see them!

I have used my new Fairy Fhiona single stamp to create my card.  This card was really quick and easy to make, as I used just one piece of thie beautifully textured DP from my new DCWV stack, a couple of pieces of co-ordinating cardstock, added a stamped sentiment, 5 buttons, and popped on Fairy Fhiona!  But boy was it hard to photograph properly - I've decided that my digi camera definitely doesn't like red tones!! LOL!  I think some stitching would have finished off this card perfectly ... but I don't own a sewing machine!!  Perhaps I'll have to succumb and ask Father Christmas for one this year!

Don't forget to check out our YNS new release BLOG HOP running until 13 June.  If you join us you could win $50 of YNS stamps!!  CLICK HERE to be taken to the start of the hop.

Also, Karen is having a 15% SALE at Your Next Stamp - just enter code YNSJUNE2010 at the checkout!

Thanks for popping by!  Have a fab day, and I'll be back later with my Quixotic Paperie Challenge card.

Hugs,

BEE HAPPY

I added some Stickles to his wings - not so easy to photograph:

QUIET TIME
Using YNS 'Quiet Time' stamp illustrated by Dale Designs

I tried to create a 'room' scene using DP for the wallpaper and patterend carpet, and some white ribbon for the skirting.  I used the 'thinking of you' sentiment that comes in this stamp set to create a mini picture frame for the wall, using acetate for the 'glass' and Anita's 3D clear gloss to make the frame shiny:

So now it's time for you to hop on over to the AMAZING Kerri's blog... but remember to leave me a comment first as I may be the secret starlet!! ;o)

Finally, here's the complete Blog Hop rotation:

You are HERE ------> Simonne <------ You are HERE

Sketch Saturday #106 & Quixotic Challenge #28: Green at Heart

Hello again!

I've combined my Sketch Saturday and Quixotic Challenges card this week, as dozey old me forgot to make my Quixotic card - I blame it on the QP blog hop we're having at the moment, tee hee!

Elaine has chosen the theme for this week's Quixotic Challenge #28, which is to "Go Wild" - create a project/card featuring animals, or alternatively create a project for an animal (i.e. a treat package for dogs/cats.

This week over at Sketch Saturday we have an amazing sketch by our super-talented Paula, and we are being sponsored by The Secret Crafter!  I would also like to say a big welcome to our Guest Designer for June who is Deirdre - do pop on over to her blog and say hi!

So for my card, I decided to use one of my new Whimsy Carousel horse stamps called 'Proud to be', available HERE from Whimsy Stamps (or available HERE from Quixotic Paperie if you're in the UK).  I adore all of the Carousel Horses that Crissy Armstrong has drawn for Whimsy - they are so wonderful to colour!

I took my colour palette from the scrumptious Basic Grey 'Green at Heart' 6x6 paper pad, using kraft, pink, purple & green, and adorned this card with loads of 4mm flatback pearls! It was really diificult to photograph this card and represent the colours properly - don't think my digi camera likes red tones very much, LOL!

Supplies available from Quixotic Paperie

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Cupcake Craft Challenge #93 - Summer Delights
2. Ooh La La Challenge #55 - Use the Colours of the Challenge blog  Purple, pink & green
3. The Pink Elephant Challenge #69 - Bright Colours
4. ASFOS Challenge #105 - Celebrations
5. Papertake Weekly - Fun Fun Fun!  They want to see cards with a summer fun theme - well, I have many happy memories of being on family holidays when I was a child and going to fairgrounds, where my favourite ride was always the carousel horses!

Have a fab weekend folks!

Thanks for popping by!

YNS New Release: Grass

Today the YNS Starlets are showcasing a beautiful new range of YNS Grass stamp sets.  There are 6 stamp sets in this range, and they are a little different from anything YNS has produced before as they don't need much (or any!) colouring and can be stamped directly using different coloured inks.

For my new release card I have used this gorgeous set called 'Tall Grass'.  My card is 148cm square, so you can tell that the main grass stamp is pretty big!  There are 8 stamps in this set, and I have used them all : Tall Grass, x2 ladybugs, x2 profile butterflies, x3 different size butterflies.

Be sure to hop on over to Karen's blog, where she has posted all the Starlets creations, as then you'll get to see the other 5 stamp sets in this gorgeous range!  I promise you won't be disappointed - they are SO beautiful and stamp perfectly first time!  And I predict they're going to sell out very quickly!

Don't forget to pop back for our grand finale BLOG HOP on 8th June - the hop will start at Cabio's blog and one lucky hopper will win $50 of YNS stamps - WOW!!

Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Quixotic Paperie : 1st Anniversary Blog Hop!

Today is a very special day as it's Quixotic Paperie online store's first anniversary, WOO-HOO!!

As I'm sure most you know, Quixotic Paperie was started on June 1st 2009 by the awesomely talented Elaine Hughes and I am extremely honoured to be on the DT for this fantastic online store - double WOO-HOO!  Elaine wanted to share her passion and see where it might take her - so, Quixotic Paperie was born! Since then, the store has grown from stocking charms and embellishments to a wider range of crafting supplies that reflect Elaine's passion for papercrafting - if Elaine loves it, you will probably find it at Quixotic Paperie! Besides lots of crafting essentials, Quixotic Paperie also now stocks a fabulous range of rubber stamps from around the world: The Greeting Farm, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, SCACD Stamps, Paper Makeup Stamps, Belles 'n Whistles, the Mo Manning for Stamping Bella range, Stempelglede and more!  In addition to the store, we have a Quixotic Challenge blog and a Quxotic Paperie Store blog, so loads of places to gather ideas of how to use your QP goodies!

To celebrate Quixotic Paperie's first anniversary we are having a BLOG HOP!!  Yay!  So if you've randomly happened across this post today and you'd like to join in the hop, CLICK HERE to return to the start.  If you are already hopping along and have hopped here from Rowena's blog, then you're in the right place!  You won't want to miss a stop, as in addition to lots of fantastic inspiration, there are some prizes on offer (full details on the Quixotic Paperie Store Blog).  To be in with a good chance of winning, you need to comment at every stop, as the winners will be drawn randomly from all the comments.

The hop begins today (Tuesday 1st June 2010 at 07:00 UK time) and will end on Sunday 6th June when the winner's will be drawn!

For my celebration creation, I decided to try a completely different style - vintage!  I wanted to go the whole hog and rip my papers, but I just couldn't make myself, LOL!  I really enjoyed making this card and getting pretty inky!  I used some techniques that are new to me - stamping on flowers, daub inking the punched leaf branches and creating my own background paper by stamping and edge inking! I even sanded the grey mat (although this is very difficult to see in the pic!).  I used Odette from the TGF Roll Call stamp set, as she is so obviously French, LOL!  My photo really doesn't do the colours in this card justice, but hey ho! :o)

The complete supply list can be found at the foot of this post, but the goodies I used that are available to buy from Quixotic Paperie are... Basic Grey 'Cappella' 6x6 paper pad ... Prima E Line Brown flowers #301071 (I used the ivory ones in the pack!) ... Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad ... White 4mm flatback pearls ... TGF Roll Call stamp set.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Papertake Weekly - Sketch #41 -  I followed Dawny P's wonderful sketch!
2. ABC Challenge - V is for Vintage
3. Creative Inspirations - Challenge 62 Distressed
4. Simon Says Stamp - Pink or Blue, Green & Brown - I have used blue, green (even though it's a tiny amount!) and brown!
As I've entered this week's SSS challenge, I'm also going to enter Lol's SSS Fortnightly Candy Draw!
5. One Stop Craft Challenge 82 - Swirls & Pearls - The pearls are pretty obvious, but I'm hoping that the swirls in the text of the SU En Francais stamp I've used count as swirls! ;o)
6. Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Pimp Your Card - I've added ribbon, thread, flowers, roses, leaves, pearls and lace - I hope that's enough pimping, LOL!  [SU supplies: Kraft card, Close to Cocoa ink, Linen thread and En Francais stamp]

So now it's time for you to continue our anniversary blog hop and hop on over to Carole's blog, but remember to leave me a comment first! ;o)

Thanks so much for hopping along with us today!

Hugs,
