Sunday Sketch & Stamp #29: My Farewell!

Happy Sunday everyone!  Hope you're enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend (UK) and Memorial Day weekend (USA).

Today is a bit of a sad day for me as it's my very last challenge as a DT member over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp! I have loved every minute of being on the SS&S DT since it started over a year ago, but I've decided to step down for no other reason than I think it's my time. I have a couple of new ventures in the pipeline - crafting and non-crafting - and I'm excited to be able to share these with you soon!

So I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to my wonderful teamies over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp - you are the best girls, and I shall miss you all more than you will know!  Plus I would like to say a special thank you to Maggie, our challenge leader - thank you Maggie for your belief in me, for inviting me onto the SS&S DT at the beginning, and for all your encouragement, support and friendship.

In addition to today being my very last SS&S challenge as a DT member, it's also my turn to set the sketch this fortnight, which I thought was very appropriate:

As you can see I turned my sketch 90 degrees to the left, swapped the rectangle for an oval and omitted the sentiment, LOL!  I used one of my Miss Anyas - quite fitting as I also used a Miss Anya stamp for my first SS&S DT card way back in April 2009!  I used some papers from my Cosmo Cricket 'Early Bird' mini deck (my fave CC pad!), and also pulled out my one and only MS 'deep' border punch.  I used a couple of colours of Coredinations Colorcore card (Cardinal and French Roast), some very thin red satin ribbon, a few olive green 4mm flatback pearls and ... voila!  I spent ages fiddling with flowers, but nothing looked right and I really didn't want to cover up that gorgeous DP!

So that's it for now folks!  Thanks for popping by!

Be sure to come back in a few days time on 1st June when I'll have 2 posts in one day!  Whimsy Stamps are releasing some brand new digi stamps on 1st June and we are having another blog hop and challenge to celebrate!  Plus there will be another crafty celebration that day, but I can't tell you what it is yet, LOL!  Then on 2nd, 5th and 8th June we have some fab new releases at Your Next Stamp!  Phew! The beginning of June is shaping up to be a very busy time!

Have a great rest of your weekend!

Hugs,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sketch Saturday (candy alert!)

Today is a VERY special day for Sketch Saturday as it's our 2nd BIRTHDAY!!!  WOO-HOO!!

To celebrate, we have some wonderful prizes to give away, but as we want to say thank you to all our wonderful SS challengers for supporting us and making SS such a success, you can only enter our prize draws if you enter this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge #105:

The main prize for this week's challenge is a whopping £30 The Craft Barn gift voucher! WOW!  In addition, some of the DT have each put together a small blog candy package, so make sure you visit all the DT's blogs this week once you've made your challenge creation to enter our draws!

For my card I decided to pull out one of my long-neglected Sugar Nellie stamps - Sweet n Sassy.  I spent ages carefully colouring her ... and then had to chop off her bottom half, as the image was too 'tall' for my card and my oval nesties, LOL!  I also tried yet another brand of card to stamp my image onto, and although this was better than SU Whisper White for blending Copics, Rymans card is still top of the tree for me!

As I mentioned before, many of our fabulous Sketch Saturday DT members are offering Party Bag Candies (PBCs) on their personal blogs (including me!) to say thanks to you, our lovely Sketch Saturday challengers!

If you would like to be included in the draw to win the card above plus my Party Bag Candy (the contents are a secret and so will be a nice surprise, tee hee! ... but I will tell you I have an order from Wild Orchid Crafts hopefully arriving very soon....!), there are a few rules you have to follow:

~~ PLEASE NOTE You are only allowed to enter the draw if you have taken part in this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge #105 ~~

1.  Follow Sketch #105 and enter this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge #105.

2.  Come back here and post the link to your SS #105 blog post, together with a piccie of your challenge card, into InLinkz below.

3.  I would love it if you would leave me a comment please! (optional)

4.  Only one entry per person please.

(NB all entries that have not followed the above rules will be removed from the draw)

My PBC draw ends at 08:00 (GMT) on Friday 4th June 2010.  I will draw a winner using random.org later that day.  All winners will be announced on the Sketch Saturday blog at 07:50 (GMT) on Saturday 5th June just before our new challenge goes live (I shall also announce the winner of my PBC on my blog at the same time).

Finally, I'd just like to pop a little note of thanks here to Jo, our tireless SS leader.  Jo, your commitment, support, appreciation and all-round awesomeness is SO appreciated by us all.  THANK YOU for being you!  You are Sketch Saturday, and we think you're AMAZING!

Hugs,

Lisa's special RAK request for her sister

Lisa, my Whimsy DT sister, is hosting a very special RAK event for her sister Jayme.  Unfortunately Jayme has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Lisa is asking for all her card making friends to send Jayme a fun card...something pretty or funny that will make her smile.

CLICK HERE to go to Lisa's special RAK blog post and read all about how to help Jayme.  All the companies that Lisa designs for have been really generous in offering up blog candy, so when you've made your card for Jayme you can enter Lisa's blog candy too!  How generous!

Jayme is a frog collector and our fabulous Whimsy illustrator, Crissy Armstrong, has drawn a special froggy digi image that you can use to make a card for Jayme.  You can download this image for FREE by clicking here.

Thanks for dropping by!

Quixotic Challenge #27: Embossing

Hello again!  It's time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic Challenges and this week it's my turn to set the challenge!  I have chosen the nice easy theme of Embossing - so dry embossing, embossing folders, heat embossing...

I have used one of my brand new TGF Roll Call stamps called Maria (available HERE) for my card [this fantastic value stamp set is currently on order at QP].  I inked her up using my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (available HERE).  I also used some 4mm and 5mm white flatback pearls (available HERE).

You can see that I haven't used any patterned paper for this card - "again?" I hear you cry, LOL!  Well, I wanted to follow this week's Monday Mania challenge over at Club Anya & Friends for which Leanne has asked us to use the color combo of orange, pink and blue but NOT to use any designer papers (which works well with my embossing challenge!).

I chose 3 diferent pieces of Core'dinations Colorcore card (BR020 In the Pink, BB010 Bluebelle, CO020 Papaya) and used a variety of spellbinder dies, Cuttlebug embossing folders, punch, and embellies...but NO designer paper!  I ran the orange piece of card through my Swiss Dots EF and then sanded the dots to bring through the coloured core of the card!  The little flowers in the top and bottom RH corners are actually cut from a piece of lace/ribbon that I won in a blog candy a long time ago, but I thought they accented the other EF I used really well!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Hugs,

YNS Challenge #17: Summer Hula!

Hey everyone!

This morning I'd like to share with you my DT card for Your Next Stamp Challenges.  It's the wonderful Maylee's turn to set the theme for Challenge #17 and she has chosen... USE A BORDER PUNCH!

I have used my Aloha Fhiona stamp to create my card.  This fab set includes 7 co-ordinating stamps, including 2 sentiment stamps!  I ordered this Imaginisce 12x12 Strawberry Sorbet paper from the Summer Cool range (item #001134) a little while ago to use especially with Aloha Fhiona as I thought the flowers looked quite 'surfy'!  And of course I used one of my fave Martha Stewart border punches - Scallop Dot.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. OCC Weekly Sketch - OCCSC16 : I have followed this FAB sketch!
2. Totally Gorjuss Challenge 31 - Bling in On!

Before I go, make sure you check out Karen's blog for a fun little YNS contest.  YNS are releasing a whole heap of super-cute new stamps at the beginning of June, and Karen is going to give away a special new release surprise package to one lucky winner!  Hop on over to this post to read about how to enter - you have until 1st June, so be quick!

Sketch Saturday #104: Proud to be Whimsy

Happy Saturday bloggers!

This week over at Sketch Saturday we have another fab sketch by our wonderful leader Jo, and this week we are being sponsored by Whimsy Stamps!

I've used one of the just-been-released Whimsy Stamps Carousel Horse stamps for my release, and this one is aptly called 'Proud to be'.  You can buy this gorgeous stamp set from Whimsy Stamps HERE (or from Quixotic Paperie HERE if you're in the UK).

At first I was dithering about whether to go with the American theme or colour this horse in non red/blue/white colours, but in the end the sketch was just perfect for recreating an interpretation of the American flag (I know the blue/white part doesn't go all the way across originally!) so I went with it!

I didn't use any DP for this card (shock, I know!).  Instead, I used some SU card in Real Red and Brilliant Blue.  I found a small clear star stamp at the bottom of my stamp drawer and inked this up with my SU Whisper White stampin' pad and stamped this onto the blue card.  I then cut some strips of white and glued them to the SU Rose Red card.  I was going to add some silver ribbon across the stripey part, but it didn't look right, so one of the stripes can resemble the 'stripe' from the sketch, LOL!  I also used my SU scallop border punch, plus created a corner embellishment using my Martha Stewart corner punch.  Some red and blue flat-back gems to finish and it was done!  Now the only question is who to give it to, LOL!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Totally Gorjuss Challenge 31 - Bling it On!
2. Saturday Challenge 84 - No patterned paper
3. One Stop Craft Challenge 81 - Birthstones  I have used 'ruby' gems for our daughter's birth month (July) and 'sapphire' gems for hubby's birth month (September).

Finally, just to let you know that Whimsy Stamps is currently holding a DT Call (positions to start in July). If you're interested, pop along to this post to read all about what is required and how to enter. The call ends on 18th June. I adore being on the Whimsy Stamps DT, and I really encourage you to apply!

Have a fab weekend folks, whatever you're doing!

Thanks for popping by!

Hugs,

Thank you! :o)

Just wanted to hop on and say a huge THANK YOU to Lisa, Squirrel, Angela, Clare, Debs, Nic, Deb and Elaine for replying to my little plea for help last Sunday (see this post).

I ended up trying Craftwork Cards, and I'm really glad I did.  As I spent over £25, I got a free gold membership (which entitles me to 10% off future orders - yay!).  I ordered on Monday morning, and my goodies arrived yesterday morning (Thursday) which I thought was really good going!  The quality is SO much better than the previous card blanks I've been buying and will enable me to make some cards which I can stamp directly onto!

Yes, it's a bit pathetic when one gets excited over crafting supplies, but I know you all understand! *wink*

Thanks again girls!!!

Quixotic Challenge #26: How Sentimental!

Hello again!  It's time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic Challenges and Kim has chosen the theme of How Sentimental for us this week, so we want to see you make a sentiment/word art the focus of your card/project!

I have used one of the wonderful new Paper Makeup sentiment stamps called 'We Can't All Be Stars' (available HERE) for my card.  I inked it up using my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (available HERE) and coloured the 2 stars with Copic Ciao R04.  For an added bit of 'twinkle' I punched a couple of stars out of some glittered card I have been hoarding since Christmas and also popped on some 4mm flat-back gems (available HERE).

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Mojo Monday 139 : I've followed their fab sketch!
2. Ooh La La Challenge #54 - Bright & Cheerful

Thanks for popping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Please help - question for UK crafters...

Hey everyone!

I'm hoping someone can help me! :o)

I've always bought my 6"x6" (148x148cm) white card blanks (with envs) and cello bags from http://www.craftsuperstore.co.uk/  I've been buying the card blanks with envs in packs of 50 for £4.99 and the cello bags in packs of 50 for £2.49.

I've been waiting for Craft Superstore to get some more from their supplier, but unfortunately they are now no longer stocking them!!  Eek!  I've had a good look on the web, but I can't find anywhere that stocks this size card blanks with envs in large packs for this price (or near to).

Can anyone help in suggesting somewhere to buy my card blanks from now please?  Who do you buy yours from?

Thanks!

Hugs,

Sunday Sketch & Stamp #28: Whimsy Party Snail

Morning everyone!

Are you ready for a new challenge at Sunday Sketch & Stamp?  It's Maggie's turn to set the sketch for us this fortnight and she has given us a wonderful one that would be perfect to use up all those scraps we hoard:

You may have noticed that I've been making A6-size cards recently - well that's because I have now completely run out of my 6"x6" card blanks, and the online shop I purchase them from has been waiting for more stock from their supplier for over a month - eek!  I can make A6 cards as I have plenty of C6 envelopes and cello bags, but I don't have any envs or cellos left for my square cards so even if I make up my own card blanks I can't package them!!

I chose to use this adorable Whimsy digi stamp entitled 'Party Snail' for my card.  Did you know that Whimsy now has 39 digi stamps in stock (16 images and 23 sentiment sets)?  I've always been a rubbah girl myself, but I am definitely coming around to the idea of digis, and the one thing I absolutely love about them is the way you can resize them to the perfect size for your needs!

Sorry the colouring is not too good!  I decided to try out some SU Whisper White card with my Copics as it takes my inkjet printer ink better.  I know a lot of people are happy and use SU card with Copics, but I found it soaked up my Copic ink too much and I then found it difficult to blend properly!  So I'll stick to my Rymans card for now, LOL!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Stampin' for the Weekend - A Card for a Male
2. Sundays With Crissy - Challenge #3 Favourite Things (Copics, DP, pearls, etc. LOL!)
3. PaperPlay Challenge 19 - Brown and ...?

Thanks for popping by!

Hugs,

Quixotic Challenge #25: Let Your Garden Grow!

Hello again!  It's time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic Challenges and Judy has chosen the theme of 'Let Your Garden Grow - Use DIY flowers on your creations' for us this week.

I decided to use the Farmer Anya stamp from my TGF Rock The Farm stamp set (available HERE) for this card to continue the theme of growing and gardens!  I inked her up using my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (available HERE) and coloured her with Copics.  For my DP I chose 4 co-ordinating pieces from the Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety Mini Deck 6x6 paper pad (available HERE) - October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket are my go-to papers whenever I use The Greeting Farm stamps!  And of course I used my Bow Easy template (available HERE) to tie the bow!  Okay, I admit it - my DIY flower is rather pathetic, LOL!  My original idea was to add a couple of lollipop flowers, but they just didn't look right on the card, so I pulled out a couple of flower punches instead!

I've followed Cindy's fab Farm Fresh Friday sketch over at The Greeting Farm blog, and I've also managed to add all the elements for Club Anya & Friends' Monday Mania Challenge which has been set by Jenn.  Jenn has asked us to follow a recipe: Pierce it, Punch it, Piece it!  I have used my SU piercing tool above and below the ribbon, I have used my MS Daisy border punch and also a couple of flower punches, and finally I paper-pieced Farmer Anya's dungarees with one of the DPs.

Finally, I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. TGF Farm Fresh Friday - Cindy's Sketch
2. Club Anya & Friends Monday Mania Challenge - Jenn's Recipe
3. Cupcake Craft Challenge 90 - Buttons
4. The Pink Elephant Challenge 66 - Recipe (The color - Yellow, Designer Paper and Buttons)

Thanks for popping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

YNS Challenge #16: Cut it out & Pop it up!

Hey everyone!

This morning I'd like to share with you my DT card for Your Next Stamp Challenges.  It's the super-talented Maureen's turn to set the theme for Challenge #16 and she has chosen... CUT IT OUT & POP IT UP!

I have used Fhiona's School House stamp set to create my card.  This adorable set includes 6 co-ordinating stamps, perfect for making those 'Thank You' teacher cards, and I have used the ruler, pencil and school house stamps today.  I stamped the house 3 times, coloured each one (with ProMarkers, for a bit of a change!), then cut out the entire school, just the front building from the 2nd house, and the porch roof from the third, then popped them all together with foam pads!  I also stamped, coloured, cut out and popped up the ruler and 2 pencils.  The DP is from my Junkitz School Days 6x6 paper pad (which I bought HERE from Crafty Stash).

Thanks for popping by!  Have a fab day!

SS #101 & QC #24: Daisy Doodle

Happy Saturday bloggers!

This week over at Sketch Saturday we have another fab sketch by our wonderful leader Jo, and this week we are being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp who are offering a $25 gift certificate to one lucky entrant!

I also would like to extend a very warm welcome to our newest SS DT members - Jilli and Lena.  Welcome, girls! If you have a moment, do pop along to their blogs and say hi!

This is also my DT card for Quixotic Challenges #24, which I'm a little late posting - sorry!  [We've had a bit of an unexpected and emotional week, and so crafting has had to take a back seat for a few days...] Rowena has chosen the theme of 'Oh Baby - create a project/card for babies or children' challenge this week.

For my card I chose this adorable Kraftin' Kimmie 'Daisy' stamp (avaliable HERE).  She's stamped in Memento Ink Tuxedo Black (available HERE) and coloured with Copic Ciaos.  I finally opened my V&A 'Quilts' Collection 6x6 Linen paper pack (which I've had since the beginning of March!) and teamed this with some SU Really Rust cardstock.  I used my Martha Stewart 'Daisy' edge punch for the horizontal strips and added some ribbon from my stash and some white 4mm flatback pearls (available HERE).  Finally, a few hand-punched flowers adorned with some Prima E Line pearls 300548 (available HERE), and an SU sentiment to finish!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. ASFOS Challenge 102 - Furry Friends
2. Crazy 4 Challenges 36 - C4C36

Thanks, as ever, for popping by!  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Whimsy Digi Stamps: New Release Day

Hey everyone!  Are you ready for some brand new Whimsy digi stamps?  You're in for a treat, as today is our new digis release day - yay!  We have loads to show you, and the best thing is that you can purchase these new digis right now and start colouring them within minutes!!  We have 3 new digis images from our brand new Whimsy digi artist, Melissa Jenkins, 2 new cuties from Crissy Armstrong, and a wonderful new digi from the Whimsy Design Studio, plus 9 new sentiments from Raindrop Echo Designs!

For our digi releases we have decided to do something a bit different and hold two simultaneous events with the Whimsy DT split into two teams.

One team is hosting a conventional blog hop today which ends on Tuesday 11th May at noon EST.  One lucky participant will be drawn at random from one of the DT blogs to receive the blog hop prize.  If you'd like to join in with the blog hop CLICK HERE to pop on over to the start of the hop at Denise's blog.

Our second team is hosting a new monthly digital release challenge over at the Whimsy Inspirations Blog! Our May challenge is to create a card/project using the following recipe: markers, papers, flowers, and a Whimsy image.  We have a fab prize for you to win, but remember that you will need to follow our challenge AND use a Whimsy image (digi or rubber) to be eligible to win the challenge prize. This first challenge will run through the entire month of May and a winner will be drawn randomly on the 31st. Then on the 1st of June we will post a new challenge!

I am part of the challenge team this month, and for my challenge card I chose to use this darling Red Riding Hood digi stamp (by Melissa Jenkins for Whimsy) and followed the fab sketch #13 at Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge.  In keeping with our challenge, I used my Copic markers, October Afternoon papers, some Prima flowers and of course this darling new Whimsy image!

Do hop on over to the Whimsy Inspiration Blog and have a gander at what the rest of our team have come up with, and don't forget to join the other team in the blog hop (which is where I'm going now, LOL!).

Sketch Saturday #101: Stepsisters

Pinch punch, it's the 1st of the month! Hee hee!  (and the start of a 3-day weekend for us Brits!)

This week over at Sketch Saturday it's the wonderful Maya's turn to set the sketch, and what a fab sketch it is:

I decided to use this great image called 'Stepsisters' by Mo Manning (available HERE).  As you may have heard, Stamping Bella is manufacturing some of Mo's digi stamps in lovely rubbah, and the best news is that Elaine is stocking them at Quixotic Paperie!!  Woo-hoo!  You can get your inky hands on them HERE!

I took my colour scheme from my fab Fancy Pants 12x12 papers (available HERE).  I actually mixed 2 different 'lines' - the green paper is called 'Aunt' and is from the 'My Family' collection (available HERE) and the yellow flowery paper is called 'Umbrella' and is from the 'Rusted Sun' collection (available HERE)!  I distressed the edges of the DP and the image with my trusty Versamagic Dew Drop chalk inks as I felt it matched the softness of the papers.  A punched border, some ribbon, a few flowers and some pearls and it was done!

Thank you, as ever, for stopping by!  I'd also like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who regularly pops by my blog and leaves me such wonderful comments.  I cherish each and every one, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time.  You know who you all are - you are the BEST!!!!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
