SugarPea Designs June 2016 Release: Day 4 - Bring on the Cake

Hi everyone and welcome to Day 4 of the SugarPea Designs June Release!

Today we are sneak peeking Bring on the Cake and HB2U stamp sets, along with the SugarCuts - Birthday Journal Card die set, designed by ... me!  You may have seen these sets before, as I originally designed them as part of SugarPea Designs contribution to Catherine Pooler's January 2016 Stamp of Approval release (Catherine nicknamed the "Bring on the Cake" stamp set, the "Crooky Cake" stamp set, he he!).  Wendy and I are thrilled that we can finally release them through the SugarPea store!

Supplies
SugarPea Designs: Bring on the Cake
SugarCuts: Birthday Journal Card

SugarPea Designs: It's a Celebration paper pad
Memento ink: Nautical Blue, New Sprout
Stampin' Up ink: Tempting Turquoise
Bazzill cardstock: Coconut Swirl, Banana Bliss, Apple Crush, Tropical Breeze, Breaker Bay

Pretty Pink Posh: Sparkling Clear sequine (4mm & 6mm)

I took a sheet of turquoise and white diamond patterned paper from the It's A Celebration paper pad and fixed it straight to the front of a 4.25x5.5" card front.  (No trimming required, as the paper is already 4.25x5.5"!).  I then use the 2 largest dies from the Birthday Journal Card die set to cut out a white stitched panel and a navy scalloped frame.  I then set to work creating the cake.

First, I stamped the striped and spotty cake tier stamps from the Bring on the Cake stamp set onto some white cardstock, and the smallest harlequinn tier onto some turquoise cardstock.  I then cut them out using the coordinating die cuts from the Birthday Journal Card die set.  (FYI When I was designing this stamp and die set, we decided to make the dies a little smaller than the stamps to eliminate the white border, and allow you to stamp a pattern onto the shape rather than cutting out a stamped image.)  I then cut out the flowers and the twirly streamers.  I cut out 2 candles - one from yellow cardstock, and a second from turquoise cardstock. - snipped the "flame" from the yellow one and glued it on top of the turquoise candle.

The line of frosting balls is long enough so that it fits across the top of the largest cake tier.  To make it fit around the bottom, I needed to cut off 3 of the circles.  To do this, I placed the already cut shape back into the die, moved it 3 circles down and ran it through my die cutting machine again.  This  shortened it to the correct length, but gave me a preofessional die cut circular end without having to hand cut!  Even though this die is straight, I was able to curve the die cut slightly with my fingers to fit the curve of the bottom cake tier!  Then it was just a case of stamping the spiral stamps and the sentiment stamp onto the white stitched die cut panel, adding the cake layers using foam tape, and gluing down the other elements.  Finally, a few sparkling clear sequins to finish!

We are also sneak peeking the HB2U stamp set today:
