Whimsy DT: Truly Scrumptious Maya...

Happy Friday everyone!  Are you excited that it's almost the weekend?  Here in the UK we are lucky enough to have an extra day off this weekend as Monday is a Bank Holiday - YAY!

Today I have a brand new Whimy card to share with you.  I finished it yesterday especially for my post over at the Whimsy Inspirations blog.  I used the gorgeous Whimsy digi stamp - Maya Blowing Bubbles - which was has been drawn for Whimsy by the famous Crissy Armstrong.

I followed the fabulous sketch over at Truly Scrumptious and also chose to follow the optional extra challenge to design the layout so that the tag shaped element slides out to reveal a hidden message or sentiment.  Here's a shot of the card with the tag pulled out:

For the sentiment I used one of Whimsy's Maya Blowing Bubbles digi sentiments that Ann created to match this beautiful image.

I also decided to crack open my Basic Grey 6x6 'Nook & Pantry' paper pad, which I have to admit has sat 'unopened' since I bought it all those weeks ago, LOL!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Truly Scrumptious Challenge 31 - Hidden Message
2. A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 101 - 3D Something
3. One Stop Craft Challenge 77 - Metallic  I have used silver spacers with brads for the centres of my flowers!

Wishing you all a fab day!  I'll be back tomorrow with my Sketch Saturday card

Quixotic Challenge #23: How Distressing

Afternoon all!  It's my turn to set the theme for today's new challenge at Quixotic Challenges, and I have chosen DISTRESSING!

I decided to use my new Kraftin' Kimmie 'Victoria' stamp drawn by Crissy Armstrong (available HERE) this week - I love all the fairies Crissy has drawn for KK!  I inked up Victoria using my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (available HERE) and coloured her with Copics.  For my DP I chose one beautiful piece from the Basic Grey Green at Heart 6x6 paper pad (available HERE) and added some fab pink ribbon from the stash and tied a large bow using my Bow Easy template (available HERE).

I then spent about an hour fiddling around with gems and flowers to stick in the bottom right corner, but nothing looked 'right'...so I ended up doing something risky that thankfully turned out well!  Bear in mind that at this point I'd coloured my image, added all the 'Crissy' dots and distressed the edge - then I decided to stamp the 'Butterfly Kisses' sentiment (which comes with the stamp) straight onto my already coloured image plate!  Yes, it was a huge risk as the stamp is grey rubber and so I had to guess where I was stamping...but it worked - PHEW!!!  LOL!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge #26 - Lots of flowers : My DP has lots of flowers, so I hope this still counts!
2. ASFOS Challenge 101 - 3D something : I have uesd 3D foam pads to pop up my image plate.
3. Papertake Weekly Challenge - Do Something Different : I have added dots around my image a-la Crissy Armstrong - a technique that I have never tried before but which is incredibly easy!  Crissy has a tutorial video for this technique HERE!
4. Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #80 - Distressing : I have distressed the edges of my DP and the image plate.
5. Magical Crafts Challenge #13 - Something for the Girls

Thanks for popping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs,

YNS Challenge #15: Going Dotty

Hello, hello!

This morning I'd like to share with you my DT card for Your Next Stamp Challenges.  It's the wonderful Lana's turn to set the theme for challenge #15 and she has chosen... GOING DOTTY.
I had the perfect paper in mind for this challenge (Pebbles Inc Easter Time Flowers/Pink Dot 12x12 double-sided #50822) and so I just had to use my Flower Bouquet Fhiona stamp as they went together perfectly!

After seeing my fellow Starlet Angela's gorgeous SU creations on her blog recently, I decided to be brave and opened my SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Yes, it does get absolutely everywhere (LOL!), but it gives the most fabulous sparkle that even my camera picks up!!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Sweet Stop Sketch 53 : I have followed the wonderful sketch over at The Sweet Stop - thanks girls!
2. Allsorts Week 49 : They have a beautiful butterfly bracelet as inspiration this week, so I have added butterflies to my card!

Quixotic Challenges #22: Make a Splash!

Afternoon all!  It's time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic Challenges

Elaine has chosen the theme of 'Make a Splash' for us this week, and so she is challenging us to create a card/project featuring water as a theme in some way!  [Now, if I'd had a bit of foresight and thought about this last week, I could have used my Angler Ian card for this week's challenge and made a different card for last week!  Never mind, LOL!]

So as I don't have any obvious watery stamps, I had to have a bit of a ponder about this one ... then as the sun was streaming through the window I had a 'lightbulb' moment and remembered my TGF Miss Anya Rain Snow Shine set of stamps (available HERE)!  I inked up 'Rain Miss Anya' in Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (available HERE) and coloured her with Copics.  For my DP I used 2 different pieces from the Cosmo Cricket 6x6 Mini Pad 'Earth Love'  (available HERE) - I have to confess that I have had this paper pad since it was first released and have never been brave enough to cut into it before now, LOL!  Finally, some ribbon from my stash and a few buttons to finish (the blue one is a Fancy Pants button, available HERE).

I followed the great sketch over at Truly Scrumptious Challenge 30, and happily the image I've used also fits their optional theme of 'April Showers'!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

3. Allsorts Challenge 48 - In Stitches My red grosgrain ribbon has some fab white stitching!
4. Sweet Stampin Challenge 22 - In Stitches
5. All That Scraps Challenge - Sewing I hope that the white stitching on the grosgrain ribbon counts!

Thanks for popping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs,

ASFOS Challenge 100: Guest Designer!

Whimsy Stamps are sponsoring Challenge 100 over at ASFOS, and so the Whimsy gals have been asked to guest design - yay!!!  It's also my Whimsy DT sistah Debbie's birthday tomorrow, so I'd like to wish her a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Debbie has chosen the very appropriate challenge of 'create a birthday card'!  As the sun has been shining for the past few days and we've been out enjoying our garden, I was in the mood to use my wonderful 'Water Lily' stamp for this card and teamed it with the fabulous MME Quite Contrary Little Miss Muffet 'Hello Beautiful' Little Flowers paper (#QC1002).

I've followed the fab sketch (challenge 63) over at The Pink Elephant, but turned it 90 degress to the left and used a sentiment instead of the flowers in the top RH corner (hope that's okay!).

Finally, I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Thanks for popping by!  I'll be back tomorrow with my Quixotic Challenges DT card!

Sunday Sketch & Stamp #26: 1st Birthday Bash & Blog Hop

Today at Sunday Sketch & Stamp we're celebrating our 1st birthday, and so instead of providing a new sketch for you to follow for challenge 26, we thought it would be fun to let you choose your favourite SS&S sketch from the past year! There are 25 sketches to choose from and you can see them all in our photobucket gallery HERE.

Each DT member has also chosen a past SS&S sketch to use for their creation today, and we thought we'd have some more fun by having a little blog hop and asking you to guess which sketch each of us has used!  So as you're hopping around our blogs, be sure to note down the name of each DT member (Sem, Maggie, Mira, Arianne, Barb, and Ger) and the number of the sketch we used for our challenge #26 creation [remember to refer to the gallery of sketches HERE to decide which one we've used!]  When you've finished the hop and gathered all your answers, email them to us at this address and if all your answers are correct you'll be entered into the draw to win a fab prize, donated by our challenge boss Maggie!

If you'd like to participate in the hop, and you didn't arrive here from the wonderful Mira, then click here to return to the start of the blog hop.  The hop starts today (Sunday 18th April at 09:00 GMT) and ends on Saturday 24th April, so be sure to get your answers to us within the week to be eligible to be entered into the draw to win the hop prize.  Please note that challenge 26 will run for 2 weeks, as per usual - please enter links to your challenge cards using InLinkz on the challenge site.  You don't have to join in the hop to take part in challenge #26 - similarly you don't have to take part in challenge #26 to join in our hop!

So for my challenge card, I used my new TGF Ebony stamp (available HERE), stamped in Memento Tuxedo Blank ink pad (available HERE) and coloured with Copics.  Both my DP and 'charming' sentiment sticker are from the Crate Paper 'Brook' Collection Kit (available HERE) - I adore this kit!  Finally I added a little doodling and some 4mm flat-back pearls from my stash.

So now it's time for you to continue our birthday blog hop and hop on over to the wonderful Arianne!

Finally, I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Roses on Paper Challenge #35 - Layers
2. PaperPlay Challenge Week 15 - Stickers - My 'charming' sentiment is a sticker, although it's not an old one, so hope it still counts!

Thanks for popping by, and I hope you enjoy our hop!

Sketch Saturday #99 (DT card): Freaky Flutter

Happy Saturday bloggers!

This week over at Sketch Saturday we have another fab sketch by the super-talented Jo, and this week we are being sponsored by The Craft Garden:

I wanted to use some papers that I haven't cut into before (I seem to buy paper but never get round to using it because I want to sit and stroke it, LOL!), so after rifling through my 12x12 box I found my fairly new MME 'Be Loved' papers.  I have the complete set, and so the plan was to cut out the various size circles of the sketch from the co-ordinating papers in the range.  However...once I'd started making up my card (and purely by coincidence!) I found that the paper I had chosen for the background actually had circles in the correct places to match the sketch!!!  So I went with this and just cut out the main circle and the smaller top right one with my nesties!

For the tiny circles I used my butterfly punches.  I punched out the 'actual' butterfly in DP and layered this on top of a 'background' butterfly punched out in SU Garden Green card to create a shadow effect, adding some Stickles to the edges for a bit of sparkle!

The image is a digi stamp from The Creepy Cakes range TGF - this one is the less quirky of the 3 images in the range and is called 'Freaky Flutter'.  I really love digis, but my Copics do not!  Even though I print the images out in 'draft' and wait a day for them to 'dry' properly, when I get to colouring them, the printer ink still seems to bleed out and causes a few grey streaks!  I have an HP inkjet printer and use my usual white coated card.  Accordingly to the card and HP, they should work fine together, but most of my Copics (esp. the light ones) are now stained with black ink!! :o(

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Anyone for Anya? Get in Shape - I have used 3 squares (green card, cream card, and main background DP), 2 scalloped circles, and 1 image shape.
2. Magical Crafts Challenge #12 Animal Antics - My animals are butterflies!
3. Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #54 Spots & Dots
4. TPE Challenge 62 Recipe - I have used 1 image, 2 dies (circles and scallop circles nesties), and 3 fave embellies (flat-back pearls, flat-back gems and Stickles!)
5. Roses on Paper Challenge #35 Layers
6. Papertake Weekly Challenge - Cutie Pie Some may think this image is quirky - I think it's cute!!
7. Meljen's Designs Challenge #3 Add those 3D elements
8. Anya Ink Challenge #2 Pink & Sparkly
9. ABC Challenge S is for Sparkle
10. My Time to Craft Challenge #87 Pretty Pearls
11. Stamp Something - Something Layered
12. Creat4fun Challenge Week 16 Circles
13. One Stop Craft Challenge #76 Things with Wings
14. Our Creative Challenge - Beautiful Butterflies

I'm sad to see the end of the school Easter holidays, as when Monday comes it will be time to pack both daughter and hubby (he's a teacher) off to school, and then it's back to the daily grind!  One piece of fab news is that my new (and rather expensive ... shhhh!!!) digital piano was delivered yesterday morning - for those of you who are interested it's a Kawai CA-63.  It's in the same room as I craft, so you can tell where I'll be ALL THE TIME from now on!!! Hee hee!!!

Have a fab weekend folks, whatever you're doing!

Thanks for popping by!

Quixotic Challenges #21: Heavy Metal

Afternoon all!  It's time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic ChallengesKim has chosen the theme of 'Heavy Metal' for us this week, and so she is challenging us to use metal embellishments on our creations!

I had a little spend up at Quixotic Paperie late last week (okay, it wasn't THAT little, hee hee!) and so I just had to use some of my brand new goodies on this card!

I stamped Ian from my new TGF Rock the Farm stamp set (available HERE) in Memento Tuxedo Blank ink pad (available HERE) and coloured with Copics.  For my DP I used 2 different pieces from the Crate Paper 'Brook' Collection Kit (available HERE).  These papers are such wonderful quality and I adore the browns, greens, turquoises and yellows!  I've never used Crate Paper before, but I'm so taken with it I will have to order one of the different kits from Elaine in my next order, LOL! I stamped up some extra fish and glittered them up with Icicle Stickles, then used some Lemon Raffia Lace (available HERE) as a 'fishing net'.  I adorned this with the fish plus some Prima E Line Pearls (available HERE), and a sweet little Starfish charm (available HERE).

Here's a slightly angled piccie of the card so you can see the glittery fish (as with all my images, if you click on the picture it'll enlarge it so you can see the details):

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Club Anya & Friends - Saturday Sketch #14 : I have followed Pam's super sketch!
2. PaperPlay Challenges Week 14 - Shiny Happy People : I have added glitter to the fish, plus I have a 'shiny' metal charm and some 'shiny' SU Silver Elastic cord as fishing line!
3. Anya Ink Challenge #1 - Anything Goes
4. Totally Gorjuss Challenge #25 - Texture
5. Anyone for Anya? Challenge - Get in Shape  This was a recipe 'shape' challenge, so here goes ... I have used 3 squares (white card base, kraft matt, dark brown matt), 2 ovals (Kraft matt oval and image oval - I am not counting the scallop oval, as it is scalloped!), and one rectangle (the yellow/white DP behind my fishing 'net').
6. Magical Crafts Challenge 12 - Animal Antics
7. Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #54 - Spots and Dots : create a card or project using two pattern papers that have spots and/or dots.
8. Inky Impressions Challenge #33 - Charm It

Thanks so much for popping by - hope you have a super day!

Hugs,

YNS Challenge #14: Stitching

Hey everyone!

This morning I'd like to share with you my DT card for Your Next Stamp Challenges.  It's the mega-talented Kerri's turn to set challenge #14, and she has chosen STITCHING (machine or faux).  As I don't own a sewing machine (and am far too lazy to hand-stitch, hee hee!), I've added some faux-stitching to my card.  But if you want to see the real stitching mistress at work, then hop on over to Kerri's blog - I adore the beautiful stitching she adds to her fabulous cards!

I had lots of fun colouring and paper piecing 'Get Well Soon Fhiona'.  I paper-pieced her bed, bed-covers and bedside cabinet, then added pearls as bed-knobs and drawer handles. Finally, a little touch of glitter on the flower of her headband and the 3 hearts at the bottom of her bed!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Sweet Stop Sketch 51 : I have followed the FAB sketch over at The Sweet Stop - thanks girls!
2. Stamp Something - Stitch Something
3. Saturday Challenge #78 - Get Well
4. Totally Gorjuss Challenge #25 - Texture
5. Cupcake Craft Challenge #86 - Childhood Memories : One of my earliest childhood memories was myself and my little brother and sister breaking out in Chicken Pox spots when we were on our summer holidays.  It ruined the holiday as we had to come home early as our hotel wouldn't allow us to stay!!
6. Pollycraft Monday Challenge #39 - Colour combo : I have used pink and brown + YELLOW!
7. Meljen's Designs Challenge #2 - Girly Colours
8. Paperplay Week 14 - Shiny Happy People : I have added glitter to my image!
9. Allsorts Challenge #47 - Petals & Pearls
10. Our Creative Corner - Bows
11. Crazy 4 Challenges #32 - Recipe : I have used one pink ribbon, 2 yellow buttons in the centres of the flowers, and 3 punches (MS Doily Lace punch, Woodware Large Daisy punch, and Woodware Regular Daisy punch)
12. Sew Many Cards Challenge Week #10 - Stitching
13. My Time to Craft Challenge 87 - Pretty Pearls

Whimsy DIGI Stamps Blog Hop!!

Hello everyone!  Today at Whimsy we are celebrating the launch of our brand new digital stamps collection - WOO-HOO!!  So what better way to celebrate than a new release BLOG HOP! The DT have some fantastic new digi stamps to show to you today (...some sneek peaks of which you may have already seen out and about in blogland this week - I posted my sneak peek HERE on my blog on Saturday!).

These digi stamps are a brand new venture for Whimsy Stamps, and are available to buy right now from the Whimsy Stamps store (along with all your Whimsy rubber favourites)!  Whimsy's new digital collection includes exclusive designs from Crissy Armstrong, Katie Sowa, and Ann Vento as well as some others from Whimsy's previous rubber stamp collections. All will be available for download upon completion of purchase. [Each download will contain a zip file with 3 versions of the image, a JPEG, TIFF, and PNG all at 300dpi resolution. Images can be flipped, rotated, or resized to fit project needs.]

If you'd like to participate in the hop, and you didn't arrive here from our wonderful GDT Marley, then click here to return to the start of the blog hop, as you don't want to miss these fab new releases!

The hop starts today (Monday 12th April at noon EST) and ends on Friday 16th April at noon EST.

As always here at Whimsy we have a FAB blog hop candy prize for one lucky hopper: $15 gift certificate to the Whimsy Store ~ Crissy's Digi "Pebbles the Cat" ~ Katies's Digi "Awww, So Tweet!" ~ Ann's Sentiments "Mother's Day Sentiments" ~ Whimsy Digi "Princess Coach"

And if that wasn't enough, our very own Ann has created a digi sentiment set (available today) for our blog hoppers to download for FREE!!

I chose to use one of Crissy Armstrong for Whimsy's digi stamps called 'Gift Horse' for my creation today, along with a matching digi sentiment for the 'Gift Horse Sentiments' set designed by Ann Vento:

I followed the 'scrumptious' sketch from Challenge 29 at Truly Scrumptious, which I will certainly use again! All the DP is from my Basic Grey 'Green at Heart' 6x6 paper pad (available HERE from Quixotic) and I distressed the edges by inking around them with my Versamagic Dew Drop in 'Jumbo Java'.  I popped 3 self-adhesive Prima E Line Pearls in the top RH corner (available HERE) - don't tell anyone, but I'd forgotten I had these, LOL!  I did add some glitter with my Copic AtYou Spica pens, but I have to say I am not impressed with them - I think I'll stick to my Stickles and my Sakura Gelly Roll pens in the future!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Truly Scrumptious Challenge 29 - Sketch
2. Crafty Calendar Challenge 7 - April Fools (they would like us to make a fun or humorous card/project)
3. Simon Says Stamp - A Card for a Child
4. TotallyPaperCrafts Challenge 11 - Distressing I've inked around the edges of all the DP I've used - hope this counts!

Sundays with Crissy Challenge - GDT!

Good morning everyone!

Now I know you saw this card yesterday (for my Sketch Saturday DT card), but I hope you will forgive me for posting it again as I want to tell you about a brand new challenge that starts today ... Sundays with Crissy - a Digital Stamp Challenge Blog.

Most of you will know the amazingly-talented illustrator Crissy Armstrong, right?  Well Crissy has launched her own challenge blog for her digi stamps - YIPPPPEEEEE!!  Crissy's digi stamps can be bought from Squigglefly and, as of tomorrow, from Whimsy Stamps!!!  So Crissy kindly invited us Whimsy gals to join her as Guest Designers for her first challenge  - THANK YOU Crissy!!

The very first challenge is #1 Make it a Combo, which I have interpreted by combining flowers and flat-back pearls (I've also combined different patterned papers!).  The challenge is a bi-weekly one, and Crissy is offering up blog candy every 4 weeks - for challenges 1 & 2 you could win 15 Copic Ciao markers!!!!!!!  But remember to use a Crissy digi stamp to qualify for the candy draw.

Over at Sundays with Crissy, you can see all 4 of the digi stamps Crissy has drawn for Whimsy on the Whimsy gals' creations: 'Hang in There' (turtle), 'Maya Blowing Bubbles', 'Gift Horse', and 'Pebbles the Cat'.  If you stopped by my blog yesterday, you will already know that I have used the adorable 'Hang in There' digi stamp for my card:

So hop on over to Sundays with Crissy RIGHT NOW and check out the wonderful cards by my fantastic Whimsy DT sisters.

Remember, Crissy's Whimsy digi stamps are released TOMORROW, when you can buy them from the Whimsy Store, and of course we are having a fabulous Blog Hop to celebrate (starting at Crissy's blog).  I will have a brand new card to show you using another of Crissy's Whimsy digi stamps, so be sure to drop by!

Have a wicked rest of your weekend ......later dudes!!

Quixotic Challenge #20: The Joys of Spring

Good afternoon peeps!

Sorry I'm a day late with my Quixotic Challenges DT card!  Silly me left it until Tuesday afternoon to finish my card, and by then I had developed a very rare but blinding headache that turned into a migraine.  Then yesterday was a right-off as we had to take our daughter for a consult with a spinal surgeon.

After waiting around for most of the morning to have x-rays done, we were then told that she has mild lumbar scoliosis.  At the moment it's a score of 9 - when it's 10 intervention starts.  As she's only 8 yrs old at the moment, it's likely that she'll need intervention as she grows.  The spinal surgeon is going to monitor her closely, which is reassuring - at least she's in the system now.  It's highly likely that she's going to need a back brace in the future. She is also being referred to a pediatric neurologist. I know there are many worse things happening in the world and many people who are in worse situations, but suffice to say we are in a bit of a spin at the moment and trying to digest the news...

Anyway, back to Quixotic Challenges!  Elaine has chosen the theme for us this week, and she is challenging us to create a Spring themed card or project.

I used one of my 'Crissy's Cuties' Kraftin' Kimmie stamps, the beautiful Ophelia (avaiable from Quixotic HERE).  As always, I stamped the image using my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (available HERE) and coloured with Copics.  I used paper from my Basic Grey 6x6 Kioshi paper pad (available HERE). Unfortunately I don't own any Bazzill Jew Templates (Elaine stocks some beautiful ones HERE) so I just stuck some 4mm Clear Flatback Round Gems (available HERE) in my own swirl to represent the flight of the butterfly! And of course I used my Bow Easy Bow Tying Template (available HERE) to tie the purple organza bow!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Create 4 Fun Challenge 14 - Bev's Sketch  I have used the sketch in it's mirror-image
2. Daring Cardmakers - A Diamond for April
