Quixotic Challenge #19: CASE it!

'Ello 'ello again!  It's Wednesday afternoon and so time for a brand new challenge at Quixotic Challenges (and my first as a member of the DT!). Rowena has chosen the theme for us this week, and she is challenging us to CASE one of the DT's work or style.  Can you guess who I've cased?  Yep, that's right it's the boss lady herself, the super-uber-talented Elaine!  I chose to CASE one of Elaine's cards which you can see on her blog HERE (although I did change it up slightly to suit the materials and tools I have!).

I used my brand new Kraftin Kimmie Angry Ballerina stamp (available HERE), stamped using my Memento Tuxedo Blank ink pad (available HERE) and coloured with Copics.  For the pink and black paper I used 2 pieces from the new Fancy Pants Collection 'About a Girl' (available HERE).  The spotty ribbon is actually sheer white and then laid over a piece of black paper for contrast.  And of course I used my Bow Easy Bow Tying Template (available HERE) to tie the pink satin bow!  I don't have any pins (eek!) but I managed to find this wire thingy and a single heart bead to thread through it to look like a pin ... sorta, LOL!  Elaine has loads of pins HERE at Quixotic Paperie, so I'll be adding some to my next order for sure!

So here's Elaine's FAB Angry Ballerina card:

And here's my CASE-ed effort:

If you do join in with our challenge this week and choose to CASE one of my cards or indeed my general 'style' then (apart from be mega-flattered!) I would love you to pop back here and leave a comment so I can pop on over to your blog and leave you some love!

Thanks so much for poppting by! Have a great day!

Hugs,

YNS Challenge 13: A Touch of Purple

Hello everyone!

This morning I'd like to share with you my DT card for our brand new challenge (#13) over at Your Next Stamp Challenges! It's Karen's turn to set the challenge this fortnight, and she has chosen the theme of 'Purple - go crazy or just add a touch'.  As you can see, I have added just a touch with my lilac ribbon and button!

I need to make a whole stack of Easter cards, so I decided to go down the very 'clean and simple' route and design a card that I can duplicate fairly quickly and will work using any combo of plain cardstock.  I followed the fab sketch 57 over at Card Patterns and used my 'Hoppy Easter Fhiona' stamp set.  The stamp set comes with 3 small egg stamps, and so I inked these up with my new SU Whisper White ink and stamped them randomly over the aqua cardstock.  I also did some faux stitching by using a paper piercer to pierce holes and then drew between them with a white pen to create 'stitches'.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

1. Card Patterns Sketch 57
2. Embellish Magazine - Colour Challenge with Stitching (light aqua, kraft, light pink) - YNS is sponsoring this challenge, so get yourself on over there and you could win some YNS stamps!
3. Totally Papercrafts Challenge 9 - Pink and Green
4. Colour Create Challenge 41 - Your Choice of Pastels
5. Paperplay Week 12 - Easter
6. Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge 35 - Easter
7. Daring Cardmakers - How Egg-Citing I hand stamped the eggs in white ink onto the green card
8. Stamp Something - Doodle Something I've 'doodled' the faux stitching
9. The Pink Elephant Challenge 60 - Pastels

Thanks for dropping by!  I'll be back later with my first Quixotic Challenges card!

Hugs,

Sketch Saturday #96 Hippie Anya .. and some exciting news!

Hey everyone!

First I've got some fabulous and exciting news to share with you - I am now on the Quixotic Paperie DT!!  WOOOO-HOOOOO!!  You could have knocked me down with a feather when Elaine invited me to join herself, Judy Laing, Kim Dellow and Rowena Barnard.  Flippin' 'eck - the amount of talent these girls have is amazing!  I feel slightly out of my depth but at the same time so, so honoured and elated to have been asked!  So a huge THANK YOU to Elaine and a special shout-out to my new DT sistahs!!

Okay, so...Sketch Saturday!  We have another of Jo's amazing sketches (how does she do it week after week?) and this week we are being sponsored by The Craft Barn:

The first thing that popped into my head when I looked at this scrummy sketch was ... what a perfect sketch to use up some scraps!  So I used scraps from my Basic Grey June Bug 6x6 paper pad (available from Quixotic Paperie) and the patterns and colours immediately screamed 'Hippie Anya'!!  I have to confess that I hadn't inked this stamp until I made this card ... *blush*!  Hippie Anya is a limited edition stamp that is no longer available to buy from The Greeting Farm, BUT...you can grab it NOW from Quixotic Paperie - but be quick as when stock runs out it won't be replaced as only a certain number were manufactured!

I stamped Hippie Anya in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with my Copics Ciaos.  I sanded the Core'dinations Colorcore card quite heavily to achieve the look of denim.  I added three tiny red Primas (love these) and hand-punched flowers adorned with 5mm flat-back gems (available here from Quixotic Paperie), plus a couple of strips of thin navy ribbon at the bottom. I used my Woodware daisy punch to punch out a red, yellow, orange and green flower, then stuck them together in the same way I'd coloured Hippie Anya's hair flower.  I printed out a sentiment on my PC using a 1970s font and then stuck this and my multi-coloured flower onto a large Prima flower I found in my stash:

Happily, this card fits a few challenges:

1. Roses on Paper Challenge 34 - Punch It (I have used my MS Scallop Dot BP and my Woodware Daisy punch)
2. Creative Card Crew Challenge 46 - Going Dotty
3. Cute Card Thursday Challenge 105 - Dimensions
4. Anya Ink - Bling
5. TGF Farm Fresh Friday - Colour Challenge

Thanks for popping by, and I hope you all have a FAB weekend!

Hugs,

Whimsy DT: Spring Stepping

Happy Friday everyone!

It's my turn to post over at the Whimsy Inspirations Blog today, so I've made a brand new card to blog there and here!  I have used the gorgeous 'Spring Stepping' stamp set from the Crissy Armstrong Collection for Whimsy, which was part of our brand new release (2 weeks ago)!

This wonderful stamp set comes with 2 sentiments and a beautiful leaf flourish stamp:

I had lots of fun colouring this beautiful image and decorating the image plate!  First I punched out the corners using my MS Arch Lattice BP, then I used my Aloe Vera Versamagic dewdrop to ink around the edges, and finally I inked up the leaf flourish stamp in the same ink and stamped around the edges!  I used my indispensible Bow Easy from Quixotic Paperie to tie my ribbon into the perfect bow, and my SU oval punches to punch out the sentiment (my fave SU purchase, LOL!), popped on some turquoise gems and it was finished!  And just to let you know that you can buy Whimsy Stamps from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie who has all the new releases either in stock or to pre-order!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Pollycraft Monday Challenge 36 - Sparkly Things  The blue circles on my DP are glittered.
2. Allsorts Week 44 - Spring is in the Air
3. Crazy 4 Challenges C4C29 - Spring
4. One Stop Challenge 72 - Let it Shine  Whimsy Stamps are sponsoring this challenge this week with a $15 gift certificate!
5. Totally Gorgeous Challenge 22 - Ribbon
6. Sweet Stampin' Challenge 18 - Spring is in the Air  I've used my SU oval punches
7. Pile it On Challenge 11 - Furry Friends
8. Simon Says Challenge - Easter or Spring with some Glimmer  The blue circles on my DP are glittered.
9. Cute Card Thursday Challenge 105 - Dimensions

[Is anyone else in the UK watching "Married Single Other"?  I've been crying buckets for the last 2 episodes!]

Quixotic Challenge #17: Altered Anya ... The Red Queen

Hey everyone!

Today I'd like to share with you the card I have just finished for the current Quixotic Challenge (#17) which is to alter one or more of your TGF stamps.  As regular readers of my blog know, Miss Anyas are my all-time favourite TGF stamps, so I just had to alter her!  I've been an admirer of Amy Young's awesome talent for a long time, and so I decided to take the plunge and go the whole hog and alter Miss Anya into The Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland!

My inspiration was taken from the character that Helena Bonham Carter plays in Tim Burton's Disney big screen version of Lewis Carroll's novel, and so I used one of the Miss Anyas from the very 1st Miss Anya collection:

After inking up Miss Anya, I wiped away everything apart from her hair.  I stamped this, then used my light box and a pre-stamped image to 'trace' the outline of her shoulders and arms.  I then used a black fineliner to draw the rest freehand, and finally coloured her using Copics:

I added some very dark red gems to the points of the nestie and used my Bow Easy to tie the black satin ribbon bow!  It was really difficult to photograph this - the red is actually more a pinky red, but try as I might I can't edit the pics to show the real colours, grrr!  Also the black/cream DP is from the MME Lush range and is actually flocked ... mmmmm!

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

1. Quixotic Paperie Challenge 17
2. I love Anya Ink Challenge - Bling (I have added dark red gems to the 'points' of the nestie!
3. Totally Gorjuss Challenge 22 - Ribbon

Would love to know what you think!!

Thanks for popping by!

Sketch Saturday #95: Kraftin Kimmie 'Bird Fairy'

Hey everyone!

This week over at Sketch Saturday we have another of Jo's fabulous sketches:

This week we are being sponsored by Nikki from Bunny Zoe Crafts who has donated one of the brand new Kraftin' Kimmie stamps called 'Angry Ballerina' (my fave from the new KK release!) plus a wonderful selection of mixed pins.

So for my DT card, predictably I've used a KK stamp!  Now, I don't own 'Angry Ballerina' (...yet, LOL!), but I have been waiting to use the beautiful 'Bird Fairy' stamp (from the pen of the fabulous Crissy Armstrong) ever since I bought it from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie when it was first released!!

I took the plunge and cracked open my Basic Grey Origins 6x6 paper pad for this card (LOL!), inking around all the edges with my Versamagic 'Jumbo Java' dew drop ink pad for a softer look.   Because the papers are so gorgeous, I didn't feel the need to add any embellishments apart from a solitary flower - a lemon-coloured rose threaded through a Prima E Line White Hydrangea (edge inked with Versamagic 'Aloe Vera' dew drop pad).  I coloured this beautiful image using Copic Ciaos (I now have sets 36A, 36B and 36C!) and used my Labels 1 Nesties to cut out my image plate, again inking around the edge with my 'Aloe Vera' dew drop pad.

It was SUCH a difficult task to photograph this card and show the true colours well!!  My PC monitor is showing the fairy's hair as being quite 'ginger', when in fact it's a softer brown tone IRL!  But perhaps it will show better on your monitor, LOL!

Happily, this card fits a few challenges, so I'd like to enter it into the following:

1. Cupcake Craft Challenge 82 - Going Green
2. Incy Wincy Designs Challenge 34 - Green
3. Ooh-la-la-Creations Challenge 49 - Anything Goes
4. The Pink Elephant Challenge 58 - Spring
5. Creative Inspirations Challenge 52 - White, Yellow & Green
6. Simon Says Stamp Challenge - A Splash of Green
7. Daring Cardmakers - Tweetie Pie (use bird/s)
8. Crazy 4 Challenge C4C29 - Spring
9. Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge 75 - Spring has Sprung
10. Sweet Stampin Challenge 18 - Spring is in the Air...

Well, I think that's about it from me!

Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

YNS Challenge 12: Distressing

Hello everyone!

Today I'd like to share with you my DT card for our brand new challenge over at Your Next Stamp Challenges! It's YNS Starlet Cabio's turn to set the challenge this fortnight, and she has chosen the theme of 'Distressing'.

For my challenge card, I decided to use my 'Cupcake Cutie Fhiona' stamp, and carried out 3 types of distressing: 1. Sanding the Core'dinations Colorcore pink cardstock, 2. Using my Edge Distresser to rough up the edges of the DP, and 3. Using a Versamagic Dew Drop ink pad to ink around the edges of both the DP and the image!

I followed the fab sketch over at Sketch & Stash Challenge, but turned it 90 degrees to the left (and omitted the sentiment - hope that's okay?). My new stash is my uninked-until-today stamp!

Karen is holding a huge sale over at Your Next Stamp right now!!  15% off all stamps!! So get yourself over there toot-sweet to nab a bargain!  Be quick, as the sale ends on Sunday evening (21st March).
Finally, I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Sketch & Stash Challenge #31 - Sketch
2. TPE Challenge #58 - Spring
3. Simon Says Stamp - A Splash of Green (the main colour of my DP is green, so I hope this counts!)

Have a great day!

Whimsy Blog Hop: A Spin on the Merry Go Round

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Whimsy Stamps 'Spin on the Merry Go Round' BLOG HOP! The DT have 3 breath-taking new Whimsy Carousel Horses stamp sets to show to you today from the pen of the uber-talented Crissy Armstrong: Spring Stepping, Proud Momma, and Wings of Hope.  These new stamps are available to buy from today in the Whimsy Stamps store along with all your Whimsy favourites!

If you'd like to participate in the hop, and you didn't arrive here from the wonderful Bev's blog, then click here to return to the start of the blog hop, as you don't want to miss these fab new releases!

The hop starts today (Sunday 14th March at noon EST) and ends on Wednesday 17th March at noon EST.

As always here at Whimsy, we have a fab grand prize for you to win at the END OF THE HOP! One winner will be randomly chosen from the Whimsy site's Mr Linky entries to receive all 3 new carousel horse stamp sets and some Prima flowers and bling!

I chose to use 'Proud Momma' for my creation today.  Well, I say that 'I' chose it, but it was actually our darling daughter who told me that I simply 'had' to make a card with that beautiful stamp!  The 'Proud Momma' stamp set includes: Carousel Horse, Swirl stamp, and 3 sentiment stamps.  I stamped a 2nd 'baby horse', cut this out and popped it up using 3D foam pads for some dimension:

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

3. Creative Card Crew ... It's a Celebration : The 'Proud Momma' stamp I have used is part of a set which is perfect for 'new baby', so what better reason to celebrate than the birth of a new life!

Finally, you may remember that the 'Wings of Hope' Carousel Horse stamp was released last month as a digi stamp to raise money for Haiti. Well, as promised, Whimsy has now released it in rubber as part of this new release (yay!) and is donating $1 from every sale of this stamp set to the American Red Cross. So I thought I'd also show you the card I made with the Wings of Hope stamp when it was first released as a digi stamp as it's such a beautiful stamp and such a worthy cause:

Finally, Whimsy Stamps are offering a special promotion from noon EST today (Sunday) until noon EST tomorrow (Monday). The first 25 orders placed at Whimsy, regardless of total, will receive FREE shipping. Shipping will be charged at checkout, but if your order was one of the first 25 orders in that 24 hour period, you will receive a shipping credit. This is a one day only special promotion during our new release!

So now it's time for you to spin on over to the gorgeous Lisa's blog ... but of course I'd love it if you left a comment first!! ;o)

Ooh, and I also want to remind you that there's still plenty of time to enter our Whimsy Stamps Guest DT call for Apr/May - full details can be found on the Whimsy Stamps website.

Thanks so much for hopping along with us today!  I hope you enjoy our Whimsy Merry-Go-Round ride!

Sketch Saturday #94 meets Squiggle Stamps

Hey everyone!

This week over at Sketch Saturday we have another of Jo's fabulous sketches, and this week we are being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp:

For my card I used this adorable (and brand new!) Squiggle Stamps 'Sunny Flower Girl' digi stamp (only £1.99!).  You can now buy your favourite Squiggle Stamps instantly as they're all available as digi stamps - yay!!  Sunny Flower Girl would be perfect for our Squiggle Stamps Monthly Challenge, for which Caz has chosen the theme of 'Spring'.  We have a FABULOUS and huge prize to give away, so make sure you hop on over to the Squiggles Blog to read all about how to enter our Spring challenge!

So I coloured Sunny Flower Girl with Copics, highlighted with my new white pen, sponged the background with some blue ink to represent the sky, added a hand punched butterfly, and finally used my Sakura clear glitter pen to give some sparkle to the water:

And of course I used my indispensable Bow-Easy bow tying template to tie my bow - available and in stock from the lovely Elaine at Quixotic Paperie!

Sketch Saturday #93 (DT card): Whimsy Water Lily

Hello everyone!

This week over at Sketch Saturday it's Maya's turn to set the sketch, and what a FAB sketch she has given us!  If you join in this week you could win a Hanglar & Stanglar stamp - yes, that's right, you could win this cutie in rubbah:

For this week's DT card I used my gorgeous Whimsy "Water Lily" stamp, part of the brand new Whimsy Mythical Collection of stamps.  Whimsy Stamps has a Winter Clearance Sale going on at the moment until the end of March (or while supplies last). So make sure you hop on over to the store now to save 20% on selected winter-themed products (no coupon codes necessary, discount prices are already marked!).  Oh, and you'll also be extremely happy to know that Whimsy now stocks Prima mulberry paper roses, bling, charms and cherry blossoms too - yay!!

I added some 'Icicle' Stickles to both Lily's wings and the 'water' dripping out of her watering can, plus I paper-pieced her dress (adding some shading with Copics).  I spent quite a while fiddling with a whole host of different embellishments to adorn the top-right corner.  In the end I settled on using a hand-punched flower, colouring it with Copics so it would match the colouring of Lily's flower, then I popped a brad and spacer (Elaine at Quixotic Paperie now stocks these fab spacers - yay!) through the middle and finished with some punched leaves.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Cupcake Craft Challenge ... Challenge 80 Round and Round : They would like to see lots of circles on our cards and projects this week, so I hope my dotty DP, round pearls and circle nesties count!
2. Papertake Weekly ... Buttons, Bows, Brads & Bling : We can use any combination of these embellishments on our cards - just one or if you are feeling brave, all 4!! I have used a 'bow' and a 'brad' and perhaps my half-back pearls and/or Stickles glitter may count as 'bling' also?
3. ABC Challenge ... P is for Paper Piecing : My FAVE technique in the whole world, LOL! I have paper-pieced Lily's dress!
4. Quixotic Challenges ... Challenge 16 Leave it Out : This week Kim has asked for us to use leaves in some way on our card/projects.  There are leaves on one of the pieces of DP, plus I have punched leaves adorning the top right corner along with my punched flower!
5. Simon Says Stamp ... Mother's Day / Girly : They want to see a feminine card this week, and I hope Water Lily fits to bill!  I'm toying with the idea of giving this to my mum for Mother's Day, or I may 'offer' it to our dd to give to me, hee hee!!!
6. Lorraine's Loft ... SSS sponsored fortnightly candy : As I'm entering the SSS challenge this week, I'm also eleigible to enter Lol's candy draw too! :o)
7. BasicGrey Challenges ... Week 15 Photo Inspiration : They have a gorgeous photo for this week's inspiration, and I see from a couple of the DT's cards that they have also used BG Wisteria paper like me!
8. Crazy 4 Challenges ... C4C27 Paper Piecing : I have paper pieced Lily's dress.
9. Totally Gorjuss ... Challenge 20 It's a sketch : Co-incidentally their sketch is almost identical to our SS sketch for this week!! LOL!

Thanks for popping by - have a great weekend!
